Genuinely surprised that Shaw has gotten the nod for India. Short of doing what Burns is doing, he's done his level best to play himself out of a spot by having that particular mode of dismissal repeatedly in tour games.

I think the Saha selection is a good one. Can only presume Jadeja is injured because picking Ashwin over him would be the definition of insanity.

Pant would have been an awful selection. Massively inferior keeper to Saha and all his recent runs have come against a not-even-shield-quality Aus A team. He's a fundamentally flawed player in all aspects of the game who relies on his fantastic hand eye coordination and athleticism to get by. He shouldn't be near the Test team for a while. Needs some time honing his skills in domestix

Jadeja should return when fit.

Pant already scored against starc , Cummins, Josh & Lyon .

Whatever it takes!!!
Your posted team from earlier this afternoon had Ashwon't playing in lieu of the Brown Colin Bland. I thought he must have been ruled out.
He is but that maybe due to lack of match fitness than just fitness. And AshWINning again in Adelaide seems a pretty good choice either way.

Is it even a good idea to suddenly remove restrictions on bowling workload of a youngster like Green on test debut? Especially when you are beset with injury worries as it is?

And while I am not sold on either Shaw or Saha selections, I can see why they went that way, especially since we are playing 6 batsmen and 4 bowlers. Ideally, I would have had Rahul opening with his best buddy Mayank, but I would have settled for Gill. Uneasy about Shaw but there is a small chance that he can break the game open for us early on, especially if we win the toss and bat first.

While I dont agree with 2 of the selections, I can kinda see the reasoning behind it, so I am not as perturbed as I can usually be when selections go against what I was hoping for.

With the long break in test matches, I feel like incumbency has been slightly overrated, and form underrated with the selections for both sides.

Gill looked miles better than Shaw in the tour game, who looked to be going with very hard hands. KL Rahul is a proven performer in these conditions, when he's concentrating properly, and he seems to be in good form. I would have opened with him. As an Australian, happy for Shaw to open.

Wade and Burns opening is not what I would have done. Harris gets starts, which sometimes when your openers are in crap nick is the best you can ask for.

It's going to be cloudy tomorrow.

I'd be shocked if Green bowled more than 8 overs an innings tbh
