2020/21 New Zealand Domestic Season

Interesting to see Verma is back on a long run-up, which I have not seen for years (albeit having not actually watched a huge amount of his cricket in that time). I remember him looking so promising as a young quick, and I hope this means his injuries are a thing of the past.

Jeet Raval is rolling his arm. Not bad, 5 overs for 23. Maybe eyeing a white ball career and the WC in India.

Again? This is why NZC just can't have him at the top of the order. He wore couple of times two years ago vs India A and was out for a month. He's had many games missed out sure to concussion.
he's a batsman. not getting hit in the head is his job.

Michael Rae 7 fer two played ons, one out to full toss, Horne's wicket :whistling still an awesome effort.

Meanwhile McClure is having a conway season for Canterbury. Another run a ball hundred today. Canterbury proving to be good in white ball as well.

i like michael rae. he's unlucky not to be born 15 years earlier because i think he's a chris martin standard bowler. hits the deck hard at 135kph and seems to get lots of bowling, he would have enjoyed the nz road era.

he'll never play for nz now unless he makes massive strides or we get a proper injury crisis.

What's happened to noted 150kmh merchant Zac Gibson? Has he been injured this season or has ND finally shaken off the sunk cost fallacy?

i think he turned out for club the other week, just a mixture of youth being blocked by tasman mako/sydney roosters h4x recruitment policies and preferring brett randell etc.

that looks promising for sears, but not so good for bennett. 3 overs then benched? oof.

seth rance is getting good bounce and hooping swing in both directions. you can see why the selectors are so interested. if he can control this he's getting 5fer.

Ross ter Braak seems to be the latest one for Heinrich Malan to work his motivational magic on. His third was pretty appallingly played by Kelly, but I could see RtB making an early strike or two in quite a few games this season if he can keep shaping it down the lbw line like he did early on.

Yeah the two distinct cadences to his run-up is fairly clubby fare, but what was actually sent down had a pleasant look.

we don't have the bowling to defend this, but it's nice to see clarkson still has it with the ball.

and bowls one on the pads as i type. still, he's hitting the deck hard at respectable pace. a noticeable step up from dudding and field.

Canterbury will certainly laugh if you dud out defending 261 when there's no Conway, Ravindra or Blundell.

that first over was club level. dudding has obviously done something to get here but straight up and down medium pace does not go well in the powerplay overs of the ford trophy. even when he was in good areas fletcher and johns had loads of time to milk him.

on a positive im liking lennox's spell so far.

RTB, Left arm swinging both ways is an asset for any team. Heard he had fallen away quite a bit, he's the indoor cricket bloke as well. I think he is related to Grobbelaar. RTB is Grobberlaar's nehpew. Both left handed medium pacers. RTB played in the same U19 team as Phillips, Sears, Smith, Ravindra, Finne etc. from memory.

We've got this one today I think, the pitch doesn't seem to have any demons in it. Finally got a bit of a start. 90/1 needing 170 in 33, easy as most of the times but never know with this current firebirds team. Could be a close one. Clarkson is definitely bowling over 130k, doesn't feel like slow at all.
