I loved how pissed Khawaja was at Langer's "out in the nets you're out" logic. I thought part of nets was to try things you wouldn't in a match until you've mastered them.

No wonder Langer dropped Khawaja as he dared to openly question his methods
He dropped him because he did sfa when he was the leading batsman in the side and needed to step up.

You don't think he had enough chances? FMD

Whatever it takes!!!
You think Langer and Smith were acting at the end of the fourth test with the camera on them in the dressing room?
When they are aware that there are cameras on them, it will impact how people react anywhere for anything, especially when they are celebrities.

Maybe it's because he's a pillow who played one decent dig under pressure in his career

It would be a pillow fetish if I called him a pillow and then went Randy Marsh on him, wouldn't it?

I really do not buy into this reality TV BS. The moment you put a camera around folks, they are gonna act like they are better people than they are. I saw it in the Wrestling with Shadows documentary and I have no reason to think otherwise about any of these documentaries on cricket sides - this one, or the CSK one on hotstar, or the MI one on netflix. There is no way these things are not doctored and therefore, to me, just more marketing material at the end of the day. Glorified ads.
So if that's true (and I believe it is to a point) then a lot of that behaviour from Langer mainly, but Khawaja etc was made for camera? I'd hope so, because particularly from Langer it was horrendous. As I said, his name has carried him a lot further in this job than probably he's entitled to.

Do you blokes work in an incense factory making tie dye shirts or something? Because if you think Langer's behaviour is horrendous then you lead a cloistered life tstl.

Also, you don't think retaining the Ashes away for the first time since 2001 isn't a big deal at all?

Well said Burgey. Australian cricket was in turmoil when Langer took the reins and, with his firm leadership, he restored a sense of team spirit and pride in representing your country. That was never going to be achieved by sitting round a campfire and singing "Kumbaya".

Yeah Langer seems to actually be performing pretty well as coach. His Australia-religion worship and treatment of Khawaja is what is a bit sickening, in a "I've had too much candy" type way.

There's absolutely no question that the overall mental approach of the team has improved drastically compared to the Lehmann era, particularly overseas. There's far more of a willingness to submit to conditions and play slow, grinding cricket and wait for circumstances/conditions to change before going all Clarke-Lehmann "playing your natural game".
