The first player younger than you to play for your Country

Shady Slim

The Lion of Bangalore is a worthy cricketer to share a birthday with, Shady.. I approve.

oop sorry to disappoint but it turns out prasad is august 5 and i'm august 4; the list i was reading had a four next to his name lol

this sucks all i've got is robin peterson and some guy named "clarence passailague" who had a giant first class partnership with george headley

Marius

International Debutant
I think it was probably Victor Mpitsang, played two ODIs for SA vs WI in 1998/99.

I know you've all been keen for me to follow up so I am pleased to confirm that my initial answer of Liam Plunkett was correct. He beat Alastair Cook by a few months.

The fact I am older than Alastair Cook is a source of eternal shame for me.

FWIW:
- Every date is the birthday of at least 2 Test cricketers. (29 February is, not too surprisingly, the date with fewest births: Alf Gover and Gavin Stevens).
- There's one set of Test cricketing triplets: Mohammed Shami, Iftikhar Ahmed and Paul Stirling were all born on 3 September 1990.
- There's 112 other pair of Test cricketing twins (including of course the Waughs and the Marshalls)

Not that anyone asked, but the last England player who was older than me was John Emburey, when recalled at 40+ in 1995. Prior to him, Gooch and Gatting in the previous winter's ashes tour.

I know Mike Watkinson was older than me in 1996, but anything later would require research.

Shaun Tait was the first bloke younger than me to debut. That was in 2005 when we were both well into our 20s.

Both for tests and across all formats it's Tim Southee, who is a bit of an anomaly...he is almost 4 years younger than me, and over 4 years younger than anyone else who had debuted for NZ to that point.

On his debut he was 19 and the next youngest NZ player was 23, while I was almost 23.

2 days later Daniel Flynn debuted, who is just barely younger than me.

Only counting tests.

Kuldeep Yadav was the first who is six months younger to me.

Since then, Rishabh Pant (4 years younger), Prithvi Shaw (6 years younger).

Pandya and Vihari are both 5-6 months older to me.
Have posted that haha. Don't think any test cricketers were born on the exact day I was born though.

Southee for me too. He was the first of that '08 U19 team to force his way in as the last of Fleming's side moved towards retirement.

U19 Vice-Captain
Darren Gough. Which is a coincidence as he got his call up not long after I saw him at the next table in a restaurant in Leeds.
