He only scored the one test 100 overall. And averaged 31 against Aus who were the only other decent team at the time. So his overall test average was probably flattering, though his FC average of 46 is good.
That should be the reason his batting isn't highly recognised, but obviously he's known for his captaincy so I'd say that overshadowed good or bad results with the bat.

ankitj, StephenZA and JOJOXI don't like sticking to a consistent position, while Teuton is very happy with his picks towards the end of the round thank you very much.
Marcuss has consistently made earlier and earlier picks while PEWS and ankitj have moved down considerably
