I strongly dislike RCB too. Would it really kill them to not have it for a year

This year the ratings will probably be even higher with every one having **** all to do but watch TV

Whatever it takes!!!
Why though

Kohli's attempts at being this genius captain with great moves is one thing, but the main reason why RCB is alwayshated is their owner - Mallya. The very definition of the filthy rich who thinks the entire world is his entitlement. They even tried to get some of the hottest Indian models (popularity wise) and actresses to be cheer leaders for them at one point.

They're all dislikeable, let's be honest

RCB - owned by rich, loan-defaulting, absconding wanker who has the money to buy yachts, IPL teams and cavort with supermodels but can't pay salaries to employees on his airline. India's Donald Trump
CSK - Dodgy fixing bastards
MI - owned by another ghoulish business conglomerate who probably get all kinds of favors from their mates in the Govt., outspend every other team on auctions
KKR - can't stand the sight of SRK pretending to be a massive cricket fan celebrating in the stands, plus he makes shite movies that are superhits for no conceivable reason
KXIP - see KKR, replace SRK with Preity Zinta
RR - see CSK
SRH - mediocre
DD - shite, who cares

The only team I will ever support is the now dead Deccan Chargers. :(

Went from having the classiest, most minimalistic name to this.

Not really. The fixing scandals mean **** at least for CSK, the issue was betting and was sorted out. And in a country like India (and I venture to say, entire SC) you cannot isolate one thing from the trifecta of big business, politics and entertainment. None of that disproves how RCB is perceived and why across India.

And FWIW, CSK continues to be the most successful and popular cricket franchise on most parameters.

Lol.. remember their first jersey colors? Think they had an awesome line up too.. Afridi, Symonds, Gibbs and few others IIRC. Made for T20 team that was at least it seemed like in those days.

Huge court case going on between the Chargers ownership and the BCCI.

Have always found fierce club loyalties among fans a little amusing, but at least football and other sports have rich, multi-generational histories associated with them so you can somewhat understand why fans invest so much emotion in them. IPL on the other hand is an entirely artificial, money-driven construct with no real folklore attached to it but still you have people passionately plumping for "their" team (behavior mostly seen among CSK fans tbh, not entirely surprising considering that region's over-the-top penchant for hero-worship). It's all a little pathetic.

Which region? Last I checked, CSK's fan base was all across India. And almost all sporting fan bases and loyalties are made up. It is the one thing that is true across all sports.

The one thing that MI do well, and better than every other franchise, is talent scouts. Theirs are amazing. Its obviously related to money and resources but the sheer fact that it is them who got us Bumrah, Hardik etc is awesome. Hopefully they find us few more gems in near future.
