Just when we thought England's lower order trolling was a thing of the past.

Hate to say it, but this partnership seems crucial. 200 would feel a lot better for England than 180, though admittedly the problem is that the WIndies batting is so **** that they'll struggle to compete with even good performances with the ball.

bad timing given the treatment he's getting but i have been impressed with kemar roach for a while. 200 odd at 27 is a good effort for a short bloke with now modest pace.

Anderson gone. Great, useful little partnership at the end. Didn’t know Bess could bat really, but England always seem to find tail enders who can bat.

Well the wag wasn't that severe after all. Still, gives England a little more to bowl at.

We'll see how the WIndies batting fares.

Well, that's a very good performance by WI all in all. If they can get a handy 50 run lead or so, it could prove to be very crucial.

the windies can't bat and it's a home test under cloudy skies for england so jofra and wood will probably show up bowling 150kph

Expected Joseph to be a bit better, but overall an excellent bowling performance by WI.

Now it's up to Brathwaite to block out the rest of the day, and hopefully stress the English.

For all the hand-wringing about England's tail wagging, their record with the lower order over the last 5 years while solid isn't as excellent as you might think.

Though in fairness it's also a pretty inconsistent matter IMO - either the lower order runs are really crucial or they completely fold.
Our lower order isn't quite what it was when Swann was around, Broad hadn't had his nose broken by that Indian quick, Moeen still knew which end of a bat to use and Curran or Woakes was in the side.
