Does anyone else remember Bresnan bowling a bouncer glad bounced twice in an ODI circa 2010? Probably against Pakistan.

carberry was hard done by, and denly will probably have a short career that he's making a decent fist of.

due to the injury rates of bowlers compared to batsmen and the number of tests england play, even a solid cricketer can rack up a billion games before you know it. trott debuted late and still cracked 50 tests. collingwood is the same. mark butcher squeezed 70 tests out of a modest career and hick and ramps played a hilarious amount of tests compared to what they provided.
Yep, honestly the best is probably Gary Ballance. Some people would say Compton as well I guess.

Best Pommy side I remember seeing:

Cook
Strauss
Root
Pieterson (the glorified ODI player - see comment below)
Thorpe (I very distinctly remember the chatter about his retirement in the leadup to the 2005 Ashes and thinking that they were mad for effectively forcing his retirement for a glorified ODI player)
Stokes
Stewart+
Swann
Broad
Gough
Anderson

I like that players you've been lucky enough to watch XI

now I saw a shield match between NSW v Victoria in late '98 (Steve Waugh was playing but Warne was injured I recall)

an ODI between Zim and WI in '01

an ODI between Aus and Pak in '10

A test between Aus and India in '12

A test between Aus and SL in '13

A test between Aus and Pak in '17

and a test between Aus and Eng in '18

I would say it goes something like this

Warner
Sehwag
Ponting
Smith
Lara
Tendulkar
Andy Flower +
Johnson
Ashwin
Anderson
Walsh

No room for anyone form that shield game anyway haha

I got to see a test when I was quite young. I think it was an ashes test but I only really remember yelling out to Warne when he fielded on the boundary.

I went to the 07 Ashes in Brisbane and the West Indies tests in Brisbane and Adelaide in 2010. I've been to a ton of domestic matches as well. I don't tend to go to a lot of live sport that I have to actually pay for.

Let's see. My XI will just be players I've enjoyed seeing regardless of quality.

Hayden
Gayle
Ponting
Pieterson (love to hate)
Chanderpaul
Hussey
Gilchrist+
Warne
Bichel
Roach
McGrath

This sort of exercise reminds me of how few matches I've actually seen live. Anyway:

(Matches are a tour match between NSW and South Africa in late 2001, Test between Australia and Pakistan in 2017, Test between Australia and New Zealand this year and a BBL derby in late 2014. There was also a trial match at Hurstville Oval back in late 2004 against two NSW teams which was marketed as the first professional T20 match in Australia but I can't remember who was on each team). I've worked at most internationals in Sydney since 2015, but decided against counting it.

Warner
Kirsten
Smith
Younis
Hussey
Kallis
Watling
Pollock
Cummins
Lyon
Donald

Moore Park precinct but yeah. Like it in the summer (apart from when I need to be there by 7am or some ****), dislike it during winter though.

Went out as I started following cricket XI. I have at least some recollection of watching them.

Strauss
Sehwag
Ponting
Tendulkar
Dravid
Yousuf
Prior
Swann
Zaheer
Akhtar
Muralitharan

Followed most of their career XI

Warner
Azhar
Williamson
Smith
Kohli
Matthews
Watling
Cummins
Ashwin
Rabada
Wagner

Peaked in my time watching. Didn't follow all of their careers but they were world beaters when I did.

Cook
Amla
Sangakkara
Younis
Clarke
De Villiers
McCullum
Johnson
Steyn
Anderson
Herath

Fast bowling stocks have risen for sure.

Saw WIndies Masters XI vs World Masters XI in Toronto comprising :

G.Sobers, C.Lloyd, R.Kanhai, C.Griffith, A.Roberts, L.Gibbs
S.Gavaskar, G.Turner, Majid Khan, Zaheer Abbas, Mushtaq Mohd, F.Engineer, G.McKenzie

Have etched memories of :
C.Lloyd stroking an effortless century, then completely bamboozled by an Intikhab delivery with Engineer whipping off the bails in a flash stumping

S.Gavaskar going ga-ga after bowling the great Gary Sobers

C.Griffith and G.McKenzie were in remarkably good shape bowling profound pace.

Local lad P.Prashad included for hometown representation was completely crushed at not having a bat or bowl - but then again the fans came to see the international stars
