Whatever it takes!!!
And ball seems to do things the moment Ishant comes in. Bumrah is having a bad game so far. Need him and Shami to step up and Ashwin to tighten up if we are to have any sort of chance.

If it turns out Kane has a broken finger he just became more bad ass than the other Kane. Although when they showed that time he got a broken box and still made a hundred against Morkel & co that was probably even bad asser. Mighta been at the basin too.

Edit: thanks cricinfo. I think that was a breakthrough knock for him.

Gonna be a hard grind from here. NZ will probably bat till day 4, exhausting our bowlers in the process for the next Test as well.

Craig McMillan interviewing Brendon McCullum about how the bowling team is not being proactive enough, not bothering to watch a pretty good over of bowling from Bumrah.

Just even the slightest nod to the possibility that there might be some confirmation bias to their criticism, or just even recognising that the team being on top might have nothing to do with proactiveness and actually just due to conditions and good batting.

Bumrah seems to be finally somewhere near to his usual self in his last couple of overs. The pace thing is concerning but he is bowling into the wind, so hopefully that is all there is to that.

Nah... Shaw will never be the kind of opener we need in NZ. Vihari has the technique to graft in for a while and Jadeja is more than capable of holding his own at 6 or 7 plus we get the additional bowling option.

And the real reason why it was stupid was how little we can depend on Bumrah and Ishant's fitness. The basics about Basin Reserve all point to a hard grind on days 3-5 irrespective of how the first two days go. Which means you will always need 5 bowlers and when the batsmen in comparison are Shaw with the laundry list of weaknesses in such conditions and Jadeja, who can contribute across all disciplines and help with the bowling workload, the answer is obvious, except to the Indian team management and maybe you.

And you repeating again and again that a #6 can't open, when he was the second best opener for us even in Aus last year does not make it right either. Its not about where a batsman bats. Its about whether he has the tools to succeed in a particular role and I do not see why Vihari cannot succeed as an opener in these conditions. He bats #3 in FC cricket, FFS.
Jadeja is from Chennai, isn’t he?

Still fun to watch just for Kane's batting tbh
He’s a terrific player to watch. Probably my favourite current player, aesthetically.

Jeez that’s done plenty. Dunno how happy India will be with that in the context of the game.
