Great start to the day again. We just can't afford to let it slide and let them get 220+ though. Need to wrap it up soon and build a good lead.
India won't bat this badly again this series for sure.
We have bowled decent, but the bowling + the pitch combined has less to do with it-India really have thrown their wickets away in strange fashion.

That's just crap. Kohli, Rahane and Pant out to such avoidable shots. How could I forget Mayank's shot!

It's really weird that front foot and back foot no balls are different with regards to whether the foot being on or above the ground matters. I guess both rules are made to the benefit of the bowler though.

That fell apart quite quickly after the Pant-Rahane partnership,India should be disappointed with that. Still, NZ's batsmen too have their work cut out in these conditions.

Jaimeson seriously impressive. Restored control immediately when brought back after Shami started making a nuisance of himself.

Don't know why Pant should have to give up his wicket for Rahane. Not like he's a bunny and probably a better bet to score a few quick runs in that situation too. Typical Indian junior-senior bullshit.

Whatever it takes!!!
Having to listen to more #verbaldiarrhoea from the idiot Manjrekar... Apparently it was Rahane's call and he was not at any fault. Seriously, I know Mumbai is the crime capital of India but the biggest crime from over there is us having to listen to this idiot and his thoughts.

NZ already looking more comfy than our boys did. 400 on the cards here, I feel.

What a great game. Have loved every ball. It’ll be difficult to decide tomorrow whether to watch this vs the Wilder vs Fury fight...

Might have to go to a bar that’s showing the fight while keeping the video feed of this game going on my phone, even though I hate watching on the phone....

Why would you not give the new ball to Shami? Very strange. Ishant looking stiff as **** here.
Might be the left hander. Ishant’s a better new ball bowler anyways imo.

Looks a bit stiff yes, but hard to tell. It’ll be more obvious if he’s match fit in the second session.

Ring walk not expected until 9:00 PM Pacific. You won't miss much cricket.

All isn't necessarily lost for India even if NZ rack up a decently imposing total here to be fair, or at least it might not be. With the weather and the general pattern of NZ pitches flattening out as the game progresses, I could see them saving the game in a similar fashion to SL a year or so back (though that draw was pretty reliant on nearly the whole of day 5 being washed out). NZ strong favourites already from here though

It doesn’t seem like that long ago in test cricket that Boult was tracking Southee down and looking to go a long way past him in the wicket tally. But Timmeh just keeps on keeping on in test cricket. Going to have to be a hard call made going into the second test. They can’t drop Timmeh again (he’ll be very angry). Wagner has to come back in. Be very hard to drop Jameson... I love Boult a lot, but he looks like he needs a bit of bowling under his belt. Maybe he’ll get it in the second innings?

And CDG is very helpful in NZ conditions too. Jeez...
