***Official*** New Zealand Domestic Season 2019/20

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Great for Otago. Last year they were on a road to nowhere with a van full of nobodies, but now they've consolidated into a really good side, in the short form.

The most etched memory for me from Firebirds is the catch from one called Mayu Pasupathi, a singled handed catch at fine leg. Was at the ground watching the game and I was stoked. Excellent crown numbers that day from memory.

He was in my Uni hostel O'Rorke Hall. He would have been a handy T20 player today I imagine.

Jack Boyle going strength to strength, a hundred in the elimination final. Looks a very compact player and plays all shots around the wicket. Another one to keep an eye on, fairly young too tad under 24. Cricinfo lists him as John Christopher Thwaites Boyle but he's known as Jack Boyle. Had a very good super smash season as well.

Yes, his younger brother looks like a good player too. The Matt Henry run out at the end is a bit comical. Also, a great one-handed catch by the keeper Remwick earlier on.

He used to smash it. As an youngster played a club game vs OnSlow when he was at his prime and pretty sure we lost more than half a dozen balls. I was in awe of him then :-)

Speaking of old domestics. Sky this January played a replay of a 2005 HRV cup game during a rain delay in super smash telecast.

Was Auckland v Canterbury. Caught my eye was Leighton Burtt. Never actually sae him bowl before. He looked excellent. Can understand Wellington
in hope, keeping offering him contracts late in his career when he kept breaking down.

Wasted talent, could do an outstanding impression - his 12th man impersonations were spot no.

I think the game where Henry Walsh hits the last ball from Peter Trego for six is another one they'll now throw on to fill in a rain delay. If we could somehow track down the exact guy who's making these archive digs, we could tell him all about the 2003 State of Origin game Jesse Ryder, U19 World Cup Bevan Small, Richard Sherlock etc. that it would be quite fun to see again.

Ben Strang secretly wants to bring back an Origin game with a whole different twist to it I think. With a 19-year-old Mike Schlanders being the latest to do quite well in a domestic A fixture, he'd believe he's not far away now.

Strang's South African-Born XI

1. C. Bowes
2. C. Munro
3. D. Conway
4. G. Phillips
5. D. Foxcroft
6. BJ Watling (wk)
7. M. Nofal / C. Cachopa / D. Grobbelaar / M. Schlanders
8. M. Rippon
9. W. Ludick
10. N. Wagner
11. T. Muller / R. Toole

Proud to say I was one of the 27 spectators at that Henry Walsh 6 match.

Watching Aces vs Otago finals on Sky. Otago is off to a great start thanks to some wayward bowling from Lister and Jamieson. The deck is flat as. Lockie just in and looks like a run out as well.

Ouch... Rutherford hit right on the badge from Lockie. That was a bad knock and Rutherford is standing but not looking all that great. He's taken too many hits this season. Remember him getting hit by one of the Indian bowlers in the NZ A vs India A comp last year. Out for few months, then early this year Jofra hit him again and out again for some time. Now he's walking off. Not great. Why doesn't he just bat no.4 or no.5 he's a bloody good bat and can score 100s in no time at all.

Foxcroft looking real good. Scored some delightful fours off Jamieson and Lockie.

Likely two concussion replacements today. Rutherford rolled out already and likely Foxcroft going to be ruled out as well. Glenn Phillips shoulder whacked into Foxcroft's side of the head.

Foxcroft has passed the concussion test and can bat later on.
