The test is less than 24 hours away, if they were going to summon replacements we'd have heard about it by now surely. If we do have a situation where Kane and/or Nicholls miss out, well what a time for Will Young to be injured.

Happy with any of the above selections though no.5 might be a bit high for Mitchell. Not averse to Raval getting one last chance before the India series though I suppose you wouldn't want to mess with the one batsman who has done well for himself thus far.

Ha, yeah it was more my dream replacements than a genuine prediction of what they would do. I am delighted to see that Phillips has been rewarded with a call up. I really hope he plays, in part to see the commentator's analysis of his stance.

phillips is a good choice and i forgot him. i was/am a skeptic based on how he handled amir but it looks like he's put some serious work into his game/shamelessly plagiarised steve smith.

raval should bat #3 if both kane and nicholls are out. he's the test opener, he gets the hard top order job. give phillips a chance at #5. if just one is out, phillips should play.

for the bowlers i'd go with southee-jamieson-wagner-somerville-cdg. henry's 135kph outies aren't doing much at the scg and tastle is a bit hittable. jamieson isn't exactly breakneck pace but it will be a good opportunity to have a look and he's ****in tall and reasonably good in the shield.

About time with Phillips, I wanted him there from the start of the tour.

I haven’t posted since the Melbourne test, easily the best test match I’ve been to as a NZ fan. Atmosphere was insane all four days, I don’t think any other NZ games will be the same for me after that.

Blundell was impressive too. Don’t know what it was like on the telly but FMD he looked a level above out there, that pull shot....

We watched Astle bowl in the nets during the lunch break on the 3rd day. He was beyond terrible, he legit looked like a club bowler. Didn’t land a single delivery in 20 mins. An old Aussie guy in front of us got up and left saying something like ‘I can see why they play Santner’

You might get that with the Barmy Army but as a NZ fan I’ve never experienced a crowd like that. Watching it on the tv these last two days it looked as good as it felt being in there. Missed out if you didn’t make it over.
