Big Jesse should have had a pretty similar batting career as Taylor with useful bowling throw in. Could have been a better batting version of Ben Stokes.

They lasted an hour?
Queenstown, and they weren't swinging for the pathetic boundaries.

I just checked the scorecard and I remember I would have seen Neil Wagner bowling at them. My life is complete.

The Hutt Rec

International Vice-Captain
Williamson and Nicholls still unable to train.

What happens if they can’t play, Raval back in and ... Santner to the top order?! Southee captain I spose? Hopefully they’re flying some cover over as we speak.

what do you mean 'still'? i didn't realise they weren't training to begin with.

with the two obvious replacements unavailable for seperate reasons then i guess...seifert #3 and...idk. was watching footage of brad schmulian in the vault yesterday, looks pretty compact, plays for gods own team. get him in there!

actually daryl mitchell could probably bat at #5 for a one off.

Latham seems to be next in line for captaincy

If it's Southee I'll barf. If it's Taylor it'd be legit amazing on many levels if we won.

International Debutant
Seifert at 3 and Phillips at 5 would be my ideal replacements, otherwise Mitchell has shown he has the back foot game to slot in at 5.

The test is less than 24 hours away, if they were going to summon replacements we'd have heard about it by now surely. If we do have a situation where Kane and/or Nicholls miss out, well what a time for Will Young to be injured.

Happy with any of the above selections though no.5 might be a bit high for Mitchell. Not averse to Raval getting one last chance before the India series though I suppose you wouldn't want to mess with the one batsman who has done well for himself thus far.

EDIT: I see Phillips has been called up

Can someone remind me what Todd Astle does that makes the higher ups see him as the greatest of assets?

Nominally it's #engineroom runs and being from Canterbury. Let's face it, KW doesn't bowl his spinners anyway so nothing he does with the ball is remotely relevant.

Also isn't Ish Sodhi, I think.
