I feel like I'd have batted a bit longer to get the lead over 500 but meh, not going to make a difference.

lol really? to answer your question: absolutely.

first innings at 2-200 you're always going to play more aggressively and risk gifting wickets that you normally wouldn't, especially if you're as unselfish as Smith
second innings nearly the whole Australian innings was declaration batting, after the openers
Smith must have been very disappointed in Head, well done for the 100 but only 48 SR. After he had batted at 35 SR and only hit out trying to set up the declaration.

And Paine at Perth ! 37 SR ! I'll bet Smith was fuming. He gets himself out unselfishly, and Paine bats for a red inker. Wouldn't happen if he was captain.

Ponting saying what a lot of us were last night, basically "If Aussies are going to declare I'd like to see them do it without throwing their wickets away because NZ don't deserve the wickets"

You just know next time NZ play Aus the kiwi fans are going to say stupid **** like "SmItH iS WaGnEr's BuNnY" because he hit a few catches off him batting to declare. There's no need to gift these guys wickets, just bat normally and declare when you have enough runs. There's no rush.
Really hope this was the post that got Brah binned........So dire even by his standards

damn i thought this would be a better-contested series...even with smith not playing well, it has been so one-sided...what an awesome pace attack the aussies have...pleasure watching them operate...

It wasn't that post but the fact that he had been repeatedly making posts like that definitely made me more likely to think he was just trying to piss people off with his posts in general.

Flem gets best bowler of the day for taking that wicket.

I think we'll see a better effort today with the bat. Keep the faith.

I tend to agree, but basically you're saying here that Latham's lead should be followed because he was just really lucky. If Blundell played and missed as much as Latham instead of nicking off he might have tonned up.
Absolutely disgusting post, no surprise you're banned.
But srsly, don't think Latham played any drives as expansive as the one Blundell nicked out to until he had 50, and then nicked out himself. The plan for batting this series had to be Williamson uses his class to stay in, while Latham/RandomOpener/Taylor tried to grind/whiff/lucksack their way through to about the 30 over mark with him.

Have to be a little impressed with Blundell being able to see the 145km/h new ball let alone hit it for boundaries. Another pretty 15 on. Does seem like Blundell could slot in down the order if someone got injured.

Re. bowling, Boult's been bowling noticeably round arm since the world cup, which I think was an attempt to try and swing the white ball more. Thought he'd try and straighten up a bit since then, but he hasn't, and I think that's causing him to both lose a bit of zip and bounce off the pitch, and is also causing accuracy issues - I'd speculate that he's been cut a lot more than usual this summer, and has also sent quite a few well down leg. Would be interesting to hear something from him or the coaches about that.
