Wagner's going to get another bunch "declaration batting" wickets with his 125kph half-trackers and our kiwi brethren will further inflate their opinions of him

have to admit his brand is growing on me though. Sure it's not particularly skillful and anyone could do it, but he actually does it so he deserves credit for it

missing leg by a mile

edit: and he hit it lol

edit 2: this channel 7 commentator (?andy maher) just said that the reason you can't be given out lbw when you hit the ball is because the umpire couldn't predict where the ball is going if you hit it . . .

Yeah, anyone with super-human fitness. As the comms have been saying ad nauseum, it's not easy to do what Wagner does.

Yeah I'm exaggerating but you have to wonder how many other 125kph trundlers around the world, in both international and doemstic cricket, could do the exact same thing but have just never tried

I've got a very fit kid at my club who bowls 125 pretty regularly, took up cricket last year. He could probably do what Wagner does. Maybe better. I might have a word with him.

It will be interesting to see if many try and emulate Wagner's approach. It's obviously worked for him, he has the best strike rate for a NZer behind Hadlee. Aside from fitness it also requires control to consistently get the ball at chest/shoulder height without breaching the 2 at head height an over rule.

I think Siddle could do it. Has the heart, stamina and the pace. If he just drops slightly short every ball it could be the third coming of his career.

It seems like it relies on you being behind in the game though. Like I know that can't be the case because NZ won a few games but from what I've seen this series it's only really been effective because NZ have set defensive fields and Aus have been so far ahead of the game that they've thrown wickets away to the tactic.

Actually a great example. He is sufficiently slow and definitely has as much, if not more, skill and fitness as Wagner.

I'd love to see Smith just play for his average and get a nice little 50* but I know that won't happen

**** needs to be more selfish, get a bit of Tendulkar or S.Waugh in him
