Yeah but sunilz, yoi specifically said you marked him down because he didn’t play Marshall, who wasn’t picked when chappell played the WI.

Afraid I’ll be marking Bradman down because he didn’t face SF Barnes, and vice versa. It’s terrible mate. Would bring a tear to a glass eye, it’s that bad.

Batsman. I think the only thing which stopped me playing for NSW was lack of ability. That aside, I had it all babeh. Coulda been a contender.

This but unironically.

Did Tom Cooper's NSWh4x start before Cameron retired? If so he's the closest we've got.
Think they only played one game against eachother, C00ps made 57 and 41 iirc. Think his habit of destroying NSW came about originally the previous season, Cameron missed the whole summer because of his back

.
But both Gavaskar and Border faced Marshall and were atleast moderately successful against him . So I rate both these batsman higher than Greg . So all those batsman of 70s/ 80s whose average were comparable to Chappell are better than him if they atleast moderately successful against WI attack consisting of Marshall imo.

Both Lara and Dravid have same average in AUS . But I would give more weightage to Lara's runs because it was scored against attack which had McGrath unlike Dravid who scored most of his runs in 2003 tour which didn't have McGrath.

Border and Chappell both have e's in their name so I rate them higher than Gavaskar

Might as well mark Chappell for not facing Ambrose either.

Garner
Croft
Roberts
Holding

All overrated hacks who only took wickets because of Marshall.

You should be the last person on this forum to talk about logic . Here are some of your Pearls of wisdom on this forum
1. India drew series in AUS in 2003 only because McGrath
didn't play
2. Kohli runs in AUS in 2014/15 shouldn't count because it was on flat tracks unlike other years when AUS produce sporting wickets
3. Tendulkar is moderate upgrade over Mark Waugh
4. Gilchrist is as good as Rohit Sharma in ODI as batsman.
5. Symonds should be in ODI AT XI because of his fielding.

I am sure there are many more but I don't want to derail this thread .

It's saved my spot a few times. After the usual failure: "Why do we pick this **** again", "Loud in the field I guess?" "Ok give him 1 more game"
Lol fair enough too.

I really only ever said something in reply to something stupid said by an opponent. Much like my taking up the cudgels in this thread in the last hour or so.

Can't see too much wrong with those tbh

1. India drew series in AUS in 2003 only because McGrath didn't play
objectively true

2. Kohli runs in AUS in 2014/15 shouldn't count because it was on flat tracks unlike other years when AUS produce sporting wickets
Depends entirely on the context. They should definitely "count" but it depends what you're comparing them to.

3. Tendulkar is moderate upgrade over Mark Waugh
Impossible to determine whether this is an accurate statement without a proper definition of "moderate upgrade"

4. Gilchrist is as good as Rohit Sharma in ODI as batsman.
Debatable, but not a terrible call

5. Symonds should be in ODI AT XI because of his fielding.
An oversimplification but not objectively wrong either

Tbf, buried beneath the crap logic, there is a fairly sound argument to be made that Chappell never had a great series against the ATG Windies attack. His one big series was in 75/76 but holding wasn't quite the bowler he'd go on to be and there was no garner or croft.

I mean, you can only score runs against whoever you end up playing against. Though iirc he did pick and choose some tours. Anyway, I still have him as the most skilled Aussie batsman since Bradman, setting aside current players.

Yeah at Tests I think that's a slight hole (though he did dominate against an attack containing at least two of those in WSC), but sunilz is arguing it so poorly it's hard to give him much credit for it.

I don't think it's really a hole Tbf, only a handful of players ever had what can be called great series against that attack. But just worth a mention I suppose.
