Question on ban announcements

Just because you couch what you’re saying in more reasonable language does not preclude you from that.
That's fair enough. I wish you yourself would keep this in mind though. You've made your fair share of questionable posts which most of the subcontinental posters here take in good humour. And yet you're often the first to jump down someone else's throat when you think he's made an offensive post.

You get a very generous dose of benefit of doubt which you yourself don't extend to others. Think a little self awareness would go a long way.

This is as error-filled a post as *****'s infamous "the quality of decision-making by umpires doesn't matter" post.

And I certainly won't be copping unsolicited tips on appropriate forum behaviour from you, of all people. But thanks anyway.

just ban everyone who's a **** tbh

it's just clear that some people are manifestly dreadful

take me for example, or honestbharani, just objectively ****ing terrible people

both should have been hosed years ago
5 points well spent, this

Whatever it takes!!!
It seems like the Politics subforum is causing more bans than other sub forums here. Would that be true? If so, should that section itself be reconsidered?

We started it because Off Topic was being ovetaken by politics chat. If we merged the forums we'd still have the same bans but from OT, unless we actually banned politics discussion altogether.

The recent spate of politics-related bannings is specifically related to two posters who very much have a record in that regard (and Shri who took his response way way way too far). If you look at the ban announcements thread, the people who have gotten bans for n+p related posting are basically just those two over and over again. I would say the most consistent source of bans is still cricket chat and threads which go completely off the rails because people take things Too Seriously, attack people personally, or are just being dickheads and don't last long here anyway.

It certainly isn't an accident IMO that the sort of posting that gets people banned in cricket chat is of a very similar kind as the very bad sort of posting you see in n+p from time to time, but CC is still where most bans come from IMO. And I think the worst problem-threads and most petrol-soaked tinderboxes are in cricket chat, but they make up a much smaller proportion of the subforum as a whole and are thus easier to ignore. There just isn't that many threads in N+P.

I have not been here much for the last year and a few... I guess that is when the sub-forum was started or maybe a bit before that and I don't post much outside of CC. So pardon my ignorance on the subject; Guess the existence of the sub or the threads themselves can't be considered the problem, but I still do like Spark's suggestion of basically saying no political discussions outside of that sub-forum.

Accusing someone of being a multi is usually frowned upon in other forums that I frequent. Please stop or I am going to have to get the mods involved. :)

Reading him post as googlyeyes is a hell of a lot better than reading him talk about his non-girlfriend in every second post
