Question on ban announcements

Funny thing, it's easy to assume that you're in a minority with your opinions (right-wing, left-wing, tail rudder, landing gear) because you never see the people agreeing with you, you only ever see those disagreeing with you.

Alternatively, it's easy to assume that all reasonable people assume the same as you because the people in your social circles see the world the same way as you do.

Either way, politics is a stupid necessary evil in the world. But not on a cricket forum. Unless it's the politics of who should play the next test (it obviously shouldn't be Siddle - NUFAN to object).

This is the problem. I have switched my style, havent switched my views as I stand firm as a centre-right but still get accused of being right-wing, racist etc without even properly reading my posts.

I will self-admit that my posts were aggressive and not in line with the left-wing tone of this forum. But instead of focusing on the content or the nuance, there were simply personal attacks.

Getting banned and staying away from this forum was the best thing, I asked for it. Sometimes this can be a very toxic place and I hope some senior forum members work on improving it.

I agree, that no lines should be crossed. But the personal insults, bullying and one sided nature of political views need to stop. Sure, call out anyone you sense is trolling etc, but atleast show some proof of it, otherwise it's simply a group of bullies and herd mentality and makes you no better than the right wing attitude you hate.

The cyber lynching on here with people who's views differ need to stop. There also needs to be a review of mods from time to time as complacency can set it and favoritism can take over.

I'm sure many of my haters and detractors (ridiculous that I even have them) will roll their eyes at this post. But take a deep breath, sit back and understand what I am trying to say before you jump to conclusions or attack.
In which the arsonist complains about fire.

It's not a coincidence at all that basically every single flare up of the Indian Politics thread in the last six months to a year has coincideded with your and shifty_eyes' posting. Funny that.

The disappointing thing here is, when I point out these very things as they occur in various threads in my own unique and engaging style, I inexplicably end up on the end of some imbo taking offence at and reporting what is simply common sense.

"lol I'm too thick skinned to complain to the mods"

I don't complain to the mods. Typically, you have confused complaining about the mods with complaining to them.

was wondering why wrongun has been banned.

Been binned for a year, just read in the ban announcements thread.

Was he really a parsi?

From the few parsis that i have met over the years, he seemed quite an outlier.

It was explained in the Ban Announcement threads why he was banned. You know, the thread you just said you read.
Whether or not he was a parsi is also kind of irrelevant given he was not banned for that, nor is it in any way against the rules.

I'm not sure if smali just went off on a tangent or actually thought it was relevant to his ban, but it was a weird post.

lol, just read that post again. It definitely did not come out as intended.

When i first saw wrongun banned, the announcement hadn't been posted yet. Then i started writing the post and went away and his announcement had appeared. Should have edited the post.

The parsi thing had been something on my mind about wrongun that i had been thinking.

Jet lag and lack of sleep definitely not the best combo while posting.

I'm going to be honest, I think that ban will seriously help the forum atmosphere. I doubt I would've posted the stuff I did in this thread recently if the flare ups you mention hadn't happened.

Good to see these last 2 bans.........nice to see the mods going after the perps rather than the otherwise good posters that react badly to them.

it's just clear that some people are manifestly dreadful

The mods want to ban politics and can't even ban sledger for being such a jerk.

Brilliance with a capital B.
