Tough under lights, even with an old ball. Especially starting.
True, but they need to try something a little different to letting balls go down leg or having wild pulls in the air, and Southee's slow pace would help picking it up under lights.

Sat in one place hoping a wicket won't fall but Jeet Raval  I move and Kane hits it all around. Looks like I have to keep moving all day.

Rachin may be the "next big thing" but flying him over at short notice to play in the Boxing Day test is a recipe for disaster. He definitely looks like a talented young player, but as my posts on Pucovski would indicate I definitely prefer erring on the side of caution when it comes to talented young batsman (or more batting allrounders in Rachin's case). And Pucovski has done a fair bit more at FC level than Rachin

At the very least, he's a moderate improvement over Guptill.

i mean if he'd had a bat recently i'd pick greg hay because he's the best option but nah
Why do you keep saying this? Greg Hay isn’t even close to the next best option and you only have to look at the start to his domestic season to see that

Anyway this game was already over but that sealed it for me watching. Good ball by Lyon but soft as butter from Williamson, again. **** off Jeet Raval and just maybe he won’t have to always be out there within five overs

I'd say get through this series somehow, just use Tom Blundell or anyone that can bat against pace at the top of the order. Jeet Raval invariably will get good balls at the top of the innings and in his state he wouldn't likely cope. Aussie bowling attack is one of the best and there's no point making him more miserable.

William Young will come in for the India series then you will likely have Conway. If both don't go well then go for Hay or Ravindra. Saw Ravindra bat and bowl today in super smash. Equally good with bat, ball and can also catch/field. I'd say Ravindra long term investment but not as yet. 6-8 months he will be a backup opener or bat in middle order and bowl heaps. He can certainly take Santa's place in the team.

I just hope Aussies also don't end up running through our middle order and expose that as well. I don't have a good feeling anymore about this series TBH.
