Did Arsenal ever do anything to piss off Dortmund at boardroom level? There's no rational explanation for Mislintat being allowed to sign absolute dross from Dortmund other than some sort of revenge.

When did Toure break into the side then? Was that the invincible season?
Yeah he started as a CB at the start of the invincibles season.

Prior to that Wenger had experimented with him as a full back a few times I think, but on several occasions that resulted in him being sent off, from what I remember.

In particular there was one game against Valencia where Rufete absolutely killed him, and he was red carded before half time.

Such a good lad though. Really liked him as a player. Him and Gilberto two really quite underrated parts of that Arsenal side.

Tbf Auba isn't dross at all. Even in this godawful side his performances are usually at least decent.

Sokratis though. Neville's assessment of him (i.e. him being "uncoachable") might actually be quite generous. Bloke is just..not good at football.

You’d think they’d create more with all of Ozil, Auba, Lacazette and Pepe on the pitch at once.
This is the most worrying thing imo. If it was just the fact that the defence was an utter disaster area, you could at least explain that away by saying "the players are cack".

But in possession Arsenal just look so out of ideas. No plan. No purpose. Just a load of kick it and run.

There were several times today when Torreira came into possession, and then immediately stalled, looking around thinking "ok, what do I do now", before passing it back to the defenders.

Grim.

Was referring to Sokratis and Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan got a bad deal by being played in unfamiliar roles in an incoherent system tbf. He may have underwhelmed, but he can only shoulder so much of the blame I think. He looked good for the half season he played under Wenger.

BARNES OUT
I would've thought the English football would've been more in the territory of get up early than stay up late for your timezone?
Games vary from 11pm kickoff to 7am kickoff depending on the competition and the time of the year. Most City league games are in the 2am or 4am kickoff range, the Cup and CL games are 5am-7am depending on DST in our respective countries. Have been staying up for these games for nearly 20 years at this point. Going to sleep and then waking up again is a fools errand, a good way to end up asleep on the couch 15 minutes in. That said I've always been a nightowl.

Used to follow City games on live text commentary on the old City website on my dial up internet before they started showing all the games live over here haha.

We're beyond saving now. No new manager bounce considering where we were under Emery is staggering. Only thing that will do it now is if the club somehow fluke a Klopp or Pochettino calibre hire despite being incompetent.

So what's playing in the Championship like? Do you guys think we'll enjoy it?
It's a meat grinder. Most freshly relegated teams get swallowed by the sheer average-ness of it all and become mid table foddder. Except Sunderland who fell right through and out the bottom. God I hope Leeds finally get out this season

I know you'd lose a bunch of players but man I'd love to watch Arsenal carve up the Championship. Championship fun as **** to watch IMO.
I mean, a lot of us thought the Europa League would be fun because it'd be a new experience in a winnable competition but **** it's depressing now.

On our next fixture, West Ham are shite too right?

People claimed that VAR would leave fans with nothing to talk about in the pub after. Hmmm. Although the second Newcastle goal could be considered VAR working as it should and the players were at fault for not playing to the whistle, it's not the sort of goal I would like to see too often.

Won their last game, which was at Chelsea. You're playing them a week too late.
