So Pujara > Laxman. That probably means Pujara is only behind Tendulkar, Gavaskar, Dravid and Sehwag among Indian batsmen.
Think he'll maintain his spot by the end of his career? I can see him dropping a few spots just like many current players tbh.

If Pujara finishes his career with 9K runs @ 47 for instance and plays a crucial role in one more overseas victory, wouldn't he have a good chance of still be ahead of Laxman ?

I'm talking about in this statistical exercise, not in terms of general opinion.

I was also thinking from the statistical perspective only. Career length is given around 10% weightage here, so he will obviously improve in that regard. (This should be one of the reasons why Simpson ,I assume he will come soon, is ahead of Lawry).
Pujara might fall short if his average nose dives and strike rate(one of the parameters here) goes down. It will be interesting 5 years down the line nevertheless.

Not a big fan of the career length having such a large rating impact in these things actually. Bradman played only 52 tests in 20 years and so many others impacted by world wars, apartheid, WSC break away and general low number of tests for some countries. Doesn't make them a lesser batsman than someone who had an uninterrupted run in a side.

Loving this thread though :)

No idea his career average was so high too.

47.6 puts him above Kanhai, Lloyd and Greenidge yet he has nowhere near their reputation, obviously coz he only played 29 tests. But still that away record is solid as
