I'm genuinely confused by the all the pitch whinging. At Mount Maunganui we were able to roll England twice, in this game the scores so far are 375 vs 475.

It's high-ish scoring without being anything out of the ordinary. From what I've seen the pitches might be slow-ish? But not reaaally slow. Sort of middling. How does this make it a bad series, let alone the worst ever?

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Because the mighty English supermen have been found wanting and we've had some good old fashioned Test cricket graft. I didn't watch any of it but weren't a lot of the last Ashes series decided in like 3 days?

You know what it seems like Dobell doesn't appreciate Test cricket that much. Wonder what he was saying in the Sodhi/Wagner stand?

'i've got nz nationality' - george dobell

i was wondering if we could take it off him and give it to wagner, who should be more than a resident and clearly loves being here, then i realised the new residency rules hamper our ability to do an england. to earn 80k you gotta make the black caps on your work visa or you're going home.

can't remember but the frailty of both batting line ups when it moved made for great drama. was a superb series, but unless england pull finger this series here is like a gentler representation of what will happen to them down under unless they stop sooking and learn how to bowl with a kookaburra.

Lol at Dobell. He always struck me as a total muppet.

This pitch does seem a bit too flat, but it is worth pointing out that we've lost a fair bit of play to rain, and are likely to lose more today. It's also notable that there hasn't been much swing, which is unusual for Hamilton but doesn't have much to do with the pitch. But the Bay Oval pitch was fine, there was a reasonable amount of variable bounce, it's just that England bowled pretty poorly and BJ is a hero.

haha yeah bj and mitchell really sucked the life out of the second day. cynically killing a game we're getting killed in is one of bjs greatest strengths.

Bit perplexed by the start to this day’s play, well, bit perplexed about the whole of this tour but there we go. I appreciate the chance of us winning this Test was close to 0%, but funny things happen, at least give it a real go for the first session and hope the weather holds. We’ve not looked like having that desire to win either Test and the much better side have won this series.

Now Archer comes on after another Curran throw down spell, with these two set again and the Test almost certainly gone. England are hoping they can just turn it on as soon as we touch down in South Africa and everything will be different! Hopefully Jimmy will be back in and Archer will be used more intelligently, I’d rather he rest than just trundle his arm over bowling mid 130’s. We look like we’ve just been used as a warm-up tool for NZ before they go to Australia, and we’ve done so willingly!

Not Terrible
We lost 30 overs to rain here tbf.

Not outside the realms of possibility that all match outcomes are on the table if those overs were in play. NZ setting England 260 or so from 50-60 overs to try push for the unlikely win. Or England skittling us in the next 60 overs and then dashing for the win.
