*Official* England in New Zealand 2019

Not Terrible
Great test from santner- however I saw enough to know he should not be in the squad to tour Australia. He isn't a test spinner and he is very average for a number 8 test batsman (despite this innings).

Gotta love wagner!!
Thinking about it now- Wagner maybe a shout to be inclided in the best nz test xi ever.
Hadlee is offcourse opening- And I'd take Bond over Boult comfortably- and both would prefer the new ball- so Wagner is surely first change in that team.

Wow. People here really don't like Santner. Also Cowie a shout.

How good is it that all three tests this week ended up innings wins? The scorelines reflect the level of dominance and the extent to which the losers all disgraced themselves. Perfect.

Yeah noticed that too. Rather sad that there has been no competitive Tests since the ashes.

Gotta love a Wagner bounce-athon to round out another innings win over England at home. He's such a nasty bowler in this sort of situation, as batsmen struggle to find the right balance between conserving their wicket and hitting the poor balls, which leaves Wagner to just thump away on a nasty length until he eventually bowls something unplayable or the batsman has a mental break.

hmm watching this version of southee gives me hope for jamieson. they're the same speed now, and i think jamieson is even taller. i'd still prefer he add 5-10kph but there could be a future for him.
In before TH.

Mate, he's about 4 inches taller. Southee wouldn't be winning any lineout ball v Jamieson without any Japanese style trick trick lineouts.

Broad's comical first ball lbw today also took place exactly nine years after he comically fell lbw first ball to complete the Human Aorta's birthday hat trick in Brisbane. The more things change.

Only followed on cricinfo. This seems like a cracker of a game. Winning by innings after England scored 353 in 1st innings and NZ lost 5 wickets at under 200. What a show by NZ!

Next Test:

Latham
Raval
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Watling
CDG
Santner
Southee
Wagner
Ferguson

Almost certainly the XI. Even if Boult's not injured that bad they'll rest him just in case to give Fergie a shot and since Wagner and Southee did well this game.

Only a 3 day turnaround to 2nd test.

I assume it's a 10 day turnaround after that to Perth, just musing on Ferguson workload. Should work.

I really hope whatever problem Boult is having...doesn't keep him out of the AUS tests. He is key. Really really hope so..

But he shouldn't play in Australia if he's anywhere under 100%, or it'll be 2015 all over again.

We really need him for the Perth tests with the pink ball (even if it doesn't swing quiiiite as much as it used to).

Don’t know what I’m more pleased about: the win, or Craig Cumming correctly referring to Wagner bowling a yorker with a leg-side field set as a bluff rather than a double bluff.
