Arsenal have a fairly decent crop of academy talent. They need to follow the Liverpool model of bringing in a good coach with a clear style of play and buying a couple of proven 23/24/25 year olds every summer.

As has been noted though, Liverpool spent a fair bit of money developing their squad to what it is now, and Arsenal's owners have a reputation amongst their fans to be a bit tight with money. Do you see them doing that sort of investment?

I don't think Liverpool have spent more money than Arsenal in the last five years? If they have it's only because they got £120m for Coutinho while Arsenal got nothing for Alexis and Ramsey.

Yeah, "Arsenal don't spend money" is a busted trope these days. Arsenal have spent loads over the last 6-7 years.

I could understand that if it was a real punt in the dark, but the bloke seems to be exceptionally well-rated by anyone who has ever had anything to do with him, and is a former club man. It was a no brainer. They totally f'd it.
Wonder if he will get the Everton job when they sack Silva?

Surely he will want to go on his own some time soon so whoever gets him will surely be on a winner.

Ozil in the squad to face Liverpool. Want to give Emery the benefit of the doubt, but I imagine the plan is to play Ozil with the youth players, lose (because it's Liverpool away), blame Ozil, drop him again.

He's a prime example of why giving managers total (or even significant) sovereignty in terms of transfer policy/targets etc. is usually a really bad idea these days.

Just saw this on bleacher report:

Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would reportedly be open to taking over at Arsenal if the position became available.

According to Rob Dawson of ESPN FC, Mourinho would be interested in the post and making a return to Premier League action after being axed by United in December last year.

"Sources have told ESPN FC that the chance to win trophies with three Premier League clubs would appeal to Mourinho, who won three titles with Chelsea, but he would need assurances from the board that funds were available to allow a serious challenge at silverware," the report continued.

Um, no.

Lol at Emery taking Ozil off to stop him from embarrassing him by playing well.
The man is a ****ing shambles

Get him out

Possibly the best performance of any Arsenal player this season, playing great, yanks him off after 60 minutes
