I'm sure this happened some time in the first dig given how big the gap is now, but Rohit averages more than Rahane despite playing a smaller percentage of his games at home.

WAG.

Pitch looks slow. Yes there's turn and the ball is keeping very low - but at least it's not fast turn. SA should be able to save if they bat well.

Haha how do their standardised averages compare?

Dammit. Piedt deserved that wicket.
Yeah Piedt has been good this innings -- should have both these batsmen out now.

I think he was actually largely okay the first innings too; India just seemed to have taken a calculated team decision to target him, and it paid off. For mine he was always likely to get flogged if he didn't take early wickets, particularly if SA lost the toss, which is a weakness he has but one well known going into the game.

He obviously hasn't had a great game but anyone thinking he was SA's second best spinner going into it shouldn't change their minds going out of it IMO. He definitely shouldn't be dropped unless the selection group reads the pitch differently.

Yeah SA have a good chance of saving this unless it deteriorates drastically tomorrow. Hopefully that's the case.

Pujara's acceleration surprising people even though he's been playing this exact kind of innings for almost a decade now.

I have a bit of time for Piedt as he has been a good performer for the Cobras for quite a while now. He is definitely the sort of bowler that can go for a few when he doesn't get it right. Would put Piedt 3rd for saffa spinners, and have Maharaj 2nd, but the one I rate the most is Harmer and he's unlikely to play international cricket again

Yeah his strike rate in Tests is 46. You don't have be a genius to see him get to 5(30) so often in conjunction with that number to realise he ups the ante after getting set.

Sometimes his ante-ups don't really make up for his slow starts super quickly and you'd never call him an aggressive batsman, but he's certainly not limited either. He's a selective strokemaker.

I`m just not convinced of playing him and Muthusamy. That is the bigger issue. Maharaj has been poor this innings though.

If feels like while the ball is hard, something in it for the bowlers. Minute the ball starts to soften becomes considerably easier.

Been just stupid poor commentary this morning.

It's the problem with being jammed into a batting lineup with aesthetic high class strokemakers and Ajinkya Rahane. No one will like the grit.

For SA. Think he has a shot for England.
