Tbh I always laugh when commentators and pundits hype up what a great finisher he is. Probably the biggest takeaway from analytics in the last decade is that that isn't the reason he's a good striker.

Yeah well he's obviously not gonna get 38 goals. But if he gets 25, that's something that mid table clubs never have.
Yeah I think your general point is true fairly often, but the main competitors are Leicester, who have Vardy up front.

The one that winds me up is when managers talk about "needing to be more clinical", when it's probably the least useful part of the game you could possibly focus on.

What a lowkey amazing time Vardy is having btw. Another example that players football ages aren't always the same as their biological one. He's older than Cesc Fabregas ffs.

Gotta be to do with arriving to the top level late, right? The Dirk Nannes effect.

Having missed my entire 29th year with a muscle injury, I've become a bit obsessed with delaying physical decline.

I don't mind this so much, as the impression I get when I hear people say this is that they are speaking in purely pragmatic terms rather than actually suggesting it is something that can/should be coached more.

It's basically akin to saying "we need to try and be less ****" to me. It's just a truism/platitude, it doesn't actually refer to anything that can be assessed by any metrics or stats or whatever. Just one of those pointless interview go-tos that mean nothing.

Yeah it's almost certainly this imo. Unless he is just some kind of super athlete. Or lying about his age I guess. haha.

He is definitely some kind of super athlete tbf. Apparently had to have a specialised training program designed because his body fat % was borderline dangerously low.

Yeah it just a standard manager thing to say.

Although supporting a team that seems to underperform against xG every single season does sometimes make me wonder.

Haha Gnabry. He is actually legitimately good right?
Very regrettable he isn't an Arsenal player any longer. Clearly a great lad.

Has been helped out a lot today by way of the fact that Serge Aurier is total plonker though.

Spurs defence just so poor today, but especially the two fullbacks. Rose and Aurier were really really bad. Aurier in particular had an absolute shocker.

I remember the Gnabry vs Januzaj arguments
Haha, might be a tough sell now but I still think Januzaj had more potential. He was definitely better for United than Gnabry was for Arsenal.

Dortmund cutting his loan short was a huge red flag. A spell there at that age is as clear a path to becoming world-class as you can possibly get. They really don't label young players unprofessional and bin them off very often.

For some reason I think Salzburg will do a number on Liverpool.

Quite fancy them to be this year's Ajax.
