He’s not terrible but he makes too many of those Kepa- or Hart-esque errors. The ones where it looks like a good goal on first view but when you see it again it’s a fairly weak shot that’s crossed the line quite close to the middle of the net.

Hearing him interviewed is always amusing as well.

Definitely one of those "speaking English but we still need the subtitles on to be able to understand" types.

Haha he’s just from Sunderland. If you can’t understand him you’ve spent too long living in parts of the country where people keep plums in their mouths.

One of the things that annoys me about about Pickford is that he's one of those goalkeepers who screams at his teammates whenever he has to do something. As if having to make an easy save from a tame shot from 30 yards means the defence have messed up.

How was that Mahrez goal a howler by Pickford? It was just a very good free kick that he failed to save.
He seems to react very late to it. And I don't think it's in a position where he could argue Mahrez was possibly going to cross it.

I’m a big fan of screaming goalkeepers tbh. Ideally they shout useful stuff but it’s still helpful for sustaining intensity when they just shout bollocks. It’s like how people work out better with a personal trainer even when they say they won’t.

More generally how good GK/CBs are at talking is a fairly significant part of the game that fans can’t know anything about.

I generally do not have a problem with vocal/noisy keepers. Given the nature of their position they get an overview of any match that no other player in the team will get, and thus they are uniquely positioned to identify and communicate things to the rest of the team. A good keeper should, therefore, be spotting things and relaying them to the rest of the team nearly constantly. And as uppercut says, even general talking nonsense can have a useful motivational effect.

I think the problem that cabinet alludes to is the strange types who get outraged at the slightest thing, or lambast others for what is self-evidently their own mistake.

Given the transition others are in it’s possible that Leicester could make the Champions League for the second time this decade. A bit like Leo Sayer having two Christmas Number 1’s.

More classic radio coverage from Savage here. Getting a Leicester fan and Celtic fan to debate who's better. Urgh.

Have to say I get a lot more laughs out of Arsenal shitness under Emery. Twitter mocking the manager is less painful when it's not your greatest ever.

Well that was definitely a "90 minutes of my life I'll never get back" match, but oh well. A great vindication of VAR, but Emery's decisions continue to baffle.
