Strange commentary thread.

Not strange as such but Boycott was entertaining during that rain delay. Interesting comments on the Botham captaincy.

Bizarre comment from Boycs on TMS. He said a tractor could do a better job than Roy. While there probably is an assortment of machinery, agricultural or otherwise, than would be an improvement on Roy, it still seems odd.

Viv called him an eye specialist whilst commentating on the India Vs WI match. When asked how he knew, Viv explained Boycs is always on about eye did that, eye did this.

The best part was when Viv said Clive Lloyd dropped him because his batting was too slow.

Instead of saying "Catch it!", "Drop it" was shouted.

Why is the Australia spinner's name pronounced as 'Lion,' and not the same as the French city with a reasonably talented football team, by the BBC commentary team?

Some of the commentary on TMS has been really weird over the last couple of days. On some of the wickets it was barely obvious a wicket had fallen given the lack of enthusiasm shown by the commentators. Maxwell and Ghua especially to blame.

Felt a bit sorry for Maxwell today. It’s a TMS tradition that the visiting commentator comes on to describe a win. He came on at 9 down. He wasn’t on at the end but described a lot of Stokes 6’s.

Ponting's commentary has been a breath of fresh air when several of the Sky team seem to be on autopilot.
If Benaud was the Bradman of the commentary box, Ponting is the Ponting of the commentary box. He might even be the Smith of the commentary box he's that good.
