I think this is a good reason as to why India seem to be one of the few sides who can actually bat. Because the IPL is after the usual domestic season, they don't need to make compromises with regard to FC scheduling like Australia and England.
It's something that everyone misses with India. Okay they may only have a couple of good overseas batsmen, but at least at home they've got guys who actually know how to score big hundreds. Having long, continuous first class season gives a great opportunity for learning how to construct an innings, something Australian batsmen are hopeless at.

Patto cranking it up to 90mph. Nice. Just hope he keeps the control and we can rip through here

By looking at Cricinfo commentary, have solved something that I have noticed:

The Australian players are wearing black armbands today out of respect for Malcolm Conn's mother, Yvonne, who died yesterday (Conn is the team's press officer).
Now, to quote Wisden:
But players these days seem to wear black armbands more often than not, and it is time the authorities stamped out this dressing-room indulgence. There were 27,000 people at the SCG that day, all of whom either have lost or will expect to lose their grandmothers. There is a difference between private grief and public grief. Black armbands represent an important tradition: a shared emotion between player and spectator. They should be reserved for the deaths of famous cricketers or major public figures and for national or global tragedies

Mate if BJ Watling was a Pom or Aussie he’d be a multimillionaire test specialist. One of the two countries should sign him up as a batting coach.

In a way Root has played a blinder. He’s got everyone thinking that his batting woes are about his position, rather than realising that he’s been in serious decline for a while now.

Since 1 Jan 2010 England have had 20 opening batsman.

7 of them average 30. 3 average 40, Leach 46.50 is the best.

Out of the three that average 40 only one of them is a real opener, too. The next best after Cook is Strauss who averaged 32.....
