Smith was only a day or two away from playing according to Langer. No play or toss today, passes a test tomorrow morning, gets named and makes a ton.

"The decision to boot Bancroft and keep Warner reeks of favouritism," huffs Ray. "Their failures with the bat are equal but in the field Bancroft was superb at bat-pad while Warner shelled 3 gettable chances, at least one of which was regulation. On overall performance over the last two tests, Cameron was the one in front "

what do you mean, this is obviously the 3rd test in human history. no cricket was ever played before about four weeks ago.

That's basically what we all thought given the minimum rest requirements in the regulations no? They rule him out for 5 days after being diagnosed, which puts him out until tomorrow IIRC.

As terrible as Warner has been could you imagine the relief in the England dressing room if they dropped him and played Bancroft instead?

Root is out of nick for us but he is still the big wicket for the Aussies, just look at the reaction every time he is out.

First slip not Warners best possie, yeah both B and W questionable form, maybe Warner is up for a biggie, I suspect not. Money on Manus having a cracker, fingers crossed. Cummins and Pattinson, hopefully digging in fast shorties to intimidate back, yep resting Siddle good call, Hazelwood instead of Starc, Reckon Starc is burning and has fire in his belly in the nets

Should be a good game - weather permitting.

Ussie calls climate change in England with less rain and dry wickets - not so green and sloppy

I suppose the thing with Warner is that he actually hasn't been in long enough at all to establish a "baseline". There's always a risk that he somehow edges-to-3rd-man-and-past-leg-stump his way of 20, then nails one through cover, and then you don't see him until he's 150*(250). Whereas with Bancroft one feels that every run is a bonus atm.

Interesting that the toss is 11:05 and start at 11:20. During the last Test someone asked why there has to be half an hour in between and someone gave a long winded answer explaining it.

Siddle back for 4 & 5, with catches not dropped. Guts and arse batting in the first test first innings with Smith, memorable like Brett Lee in 2005

Beer in fridge, couch warmed, WOOHOOOOOO!
