Archer should be a handful here with his super-upright delivery.
For Surrey, he bats in the middle order of late, or at 3. Although it’s not his position that we’re discussing here more that he deserves a shot in England’s top/middle order more so than Curran.Doesn't he usually bat in the middle order though
And two edges in a row for good measure. Control rate was pretty good before that though.ok who's keeping track of the Rory Burns play-and-miss count?
Yes it is. That's exactly what we're discussing. For Surrey, he bats in the middle order of late, or at 3. Although it’s not his position that we’re discussing here more that he deserves a shot in England’s top/middle order more so than Curran.
I fully understand the scepticism, however, we have not been blessed with the traditional style openers going a great job in recent years, at least we know Roy can perform against top class international attacks and that currently seems a better measuring stick than scoring runs as an opener in the County Championship, as many of them have failed.I just don't see it... yes play him 5 or 6 if you want, but his technique is not just gonna come right for a moving ball in Test matches. The Sehwags of the world are rare.... there is a reason that many great opening LO batsmen bat 6/7 in the Test teams.
In ODI's though. By your logic Aaron Finch should be a lock in the Australian side.I fully understand the scepticism, however, we have not been blessed with the traditional style openers going a great job in recent years, at least we know Roy can perform against top class international attacks and that currently seems a better measuring stick than scoring runs as an opener in the County Championship, as many of them have failed.
Roy is going to snick off early on occasions in English conditions, but he will play a destructive tone-setting innings at times, maybe more so abroad, and I think that’s something we need to be patient with.

don't worry, just pay closer attention to the discussion when jumping in next timeAh my apologies
