australia will still be quite the contender going into the semis. 3 games now where they've comfortably defended scores with the WI one being the standout and also their top order all scoring runs and in form. They were never in real danger against either Pakistan or yday of losing imo. It's mainly Stoinis (with bat and ball)and Zampa who might prove to be the problem for them but then too i see starc and cummins as a guaranteed 20 overs of top quality bowling which obviously should help cushion the blow of whatever the others concede. If they were to play Nzl for example id back them to win it even though this is a shadow of even the 2015 squad what with the mental hold they have on them.
Nah, they could've lost to WI and Pak if the Pooran-Hetmyer and Babar-Hafeez partnerships kept going a little longer. Both came to an end due to some very brainless batting.

they could've but i don't get the feeling that Oz are one of those teams who **** it mentally and bottle it in ICC tournaments no matter how good/bad their team is. The WI game was quite losable but they just played normal cricket and defended it by allowing some low percentage batting from WI run its course. Pakistan game was closer than it looked because of 2 tail end batsmen deciding to have a slog and seeing it come off for 70 runs or so which made it seem closer than it actually was, even after the icing in the batting order failed miserably at the death.

The Pakistan game wasn't close at all after the 30th over I think but before the Cummins spell the balance shifted towards Pakistan for a while. They bottled it of course.

I'm hoping for some clouds. Hope England's monotonous hitters are exposed.
What on Earth is a monotonous hitter? Reckon Morgan hit most of his 6's over wide mid because he can't go inside out over cover? Aussies would kill for anyone other than Maxwell to do some monotonous hitting like that.

Monotonous hitters don't survive at the international level; where bowlers know what to do against such guys.

I just saw the Maxwell runout. He should have kept running and left Khawaja stranded. Khawaja stopped 60% down the pitch ffs.

Also that Smith review, never seen a review more plumb landing middle of middle lol

The two biggest things from an Australian PoV from this game were the form of Warner and Coulter-Nile finding form. He was threatening for the first time this tournament and having three bowlers that are bowling well instead of just two is absolutely massive for our chances.

They all knew that. It was the 47th over. Of course you're going to review it even if it's plumb. Who know's might have been a no-ball, or a thin edge that he didn't notice. No point saving the review.

That goes against the whole reason for a review, supposed to be for major blunder by the umpire
