England are toast. Will throw up all over themselves. They’ve already started.

India very hard to beat but top heavy much like Australia, despite today. Will be interesting
Australia's tail is so much stronger than India's. India's middle order is slightly better. Will be interesting, yeah.

Yeah, as people know I just have a very concrete-results oriented approach to these things. Anyone who basically wins a WC on their own is a shoe-in in my book, longevity/consistency a distant second in consideration. WCs are too infrequent and too difficult to win for it to be otherwise for me.
As an Australian you can't possibly believe that.

I mean, Australia being very good at winning WCs doesn't mean they're anything but very, very hard to win. Just ask SA, or the mid-to-late-00s SL sides.

Point is more that I proritise significant performances over career average in WCs, so to speak. So big WC knockouts first and foremost (or Super Sixes, or any game where the result matters and isn't a gimme), then overall tournament performances, then career performance in WC.

Oh dear. Australia always seem to find a way in world cups. It always feels like Starc is going to take 5 against us, he's terrifying.

Still, I'm happy with we're we're at, it was a competitive game. We're in good shape. Nurse is crap but there's not much we can do about that due to lack of options. Carlos needs to go. His bowling is meh, like an inferior Holder and his batting was awful when we needed him. Bring in Gabriel or Roach.

The umpiring was awful and the ICC need to do something. We were able to overturn most of the errors but they were awfully one-sided and that is unacceptable. Don't think it affected the result but windies are still very much owed an apology.

****s sake. You just know Aus will make the semis then everyone else will fall over themselves. Just give them the trophy now and spare us

Ship one to them every 4 years while rest of the teams play a tournament for consolation trophy.

Ballsy performance by Aus. The kind to bring a team together in an attritional environment like this. There were so many times in this match when they could've royally **** themselves, but they held it together.

Yeah, Pakistan would've **** themselves 20 times in that match. Or never would've made it past the 4-47. Steel-nerved ****ers.

How many great moments have we already seen in this WC? Nabi's 3 wicket over, Shakib's match, Wahab getting Buttler out, Stoke's catch.. and so many more. Not one dull match so far.

People talking up Australia after this, and it was an impressive win for sure, but the batting is still beyond shaky. Won't be able to rely on a freak NCN innings every time.

Reckon India especially will be all over them.

Damn so close. Good effort wi. Still need a win vs at least one of the India rsa or English to make the semis imo. I assume they'll win and lose a few vs the rest.

It’s been a terrific WC so far. I admit I miss having associate nations playing because IDing some players with awesome talent or watching a side like Ireland beat England a few years ago is awesome, but tbh this format means most every game means something (which might change towards the end of the prelims) and there is genuinely not one game which you approach 100% knowing your side will win.

Spot on with the first bit. The key to Aus beating India is their bowling and hoping their guys don't have to chase down a huge total. If Aus bat first then it would be very difficult to contain India. More than Bumrah i'd be concerned about Chahaal and Yadav. They can probably spin a web around Aus. India are the favourites but Aus can pull of a surprise with a Maxwell special or a Steve Smith Hundred. Go with an extra bowler for Aus, play to your strengths. For India, they simply need to back their bowlers with attacking fields.

Gotta give it to the West Indies, they put up a lot more fight than I thought they would. They will still feel gutted, they had the chance to finish Australia off, and they let them off the hook with some pretty loose bowling and poor field placements during the middle overs (repeated bouncing NCN without a proper fine-leg in place was maddening to watch). Shame about the umpiring, I can understand why WI fans are grumbling this morning.
