This Bairstow and that Buttler are going to make England run away with the World Cup. Notwithstanding their bowling, led by the likes of ATVG Moeen Ali.

England have been so uninspiring in World Cups in my time watching. Always stuck with an approach outdated by 4-5 years.

I actually think their best chance was in '99

Famously underrated ODI talents around the squad like Hick, Fairbrother, Knight, Mullally and Ealham, most who were in form to go with actual renowned names in Stewart and Gough

Plus home ground advantage and coming off a solid showing in the 98/99 tri series where they beat the two previous WC finalists a few times each.

But of course they messed up

Brilliant stuff from MSD, his T20I record may be underwhelming but he's always been quality in the IPL.

April fools innings from Steve Smith. He's lost it tbh. Destroyed by the ban.

Warner's come back as good as ever because he doesn't give a **** and probably doesn't think he did anything wrong

Williamson legitimately needs to make himself unavailable for the next game, even if he's fit.

How could one justify leaving out Bairstow, Warner, Nabi or Rashid as the 4 overseas pros after that performance?

Smith was never much good at t20s though. Even in ODIs he's useful but a step behind Root, Virat and KW

We'll know during the ashes if he's lost it or not

Lol, Nice overreaction that. You're drawing that conclusion based on a few T20 innings? A format he's merely been 'very good' as opposed to 'excellent' in anyway?

It's his Test batting exploits that's made him the Steve Smith we know. Can we at least wait to see him back in whites before deciding he's gone from being Bradman reincarnated to a nobody? Cheers.
