Wade at three in that line up imo, with a licence to stonk.

Hope we get these losses out of our system before the WC and that someone actually plays well and replaces Rayudu.

Think the performances of Windies and Australia respectively are an eye opener that there isn't necessarily an awful lot to separate the best from the rest at the moment. These were about as full strength Indian and English sides as you can probably get. The telling test will obviously be whether this competitiveness maintains throughout the WC, or the pressure of the tournament gets to any of them and likewise brings the best out of the favourite sides.

His competitors not exactly knocking on the door was one of the reasons why Rayudu was given a long and counter productive rope. Now, his replacements not being good enough will be one of the reasons why he will keep playing.

I really hope Rahul proves me wrong. He has clear chinks in his armour though.

It will be interesting to see if Cummins continues on with this rate of improvement as a LO bowler. Never thought much of him in the shorter formats tbh, but he seems to have grown another leg. Will be handy in England if there's any seam movement on offer

His bowling this season has been on such another level that I grow another leg just watching it tbh

Bloke's a legitimate great. Keep this up and he'll be amongst the best we've ever seen. McG was clinical genius, perfect bloke to lead an already great team. Cummins is heroic, put him in any team weak or strong and he'll give them legs and any oppo, at worst, a scare.

Indeed. Though he was our fourth bowler in that WC team.
yeah that's the pedantic point I was gonna make a big post about. he was picked in the WC team based on his performances as a batting all-rounder but his actual role was clearly as a bowling all-rounder, filling the number 4 bowling spot in place of pat cummins/a spinner, albeit promoted above Haddin which you could easily argue was an incorrect choice. it could have ended up as a regrettable mistake but Faulkner's bowling performances in the WC were basically the best in his ODI career, while his batting wasn't really needed, so it didn't impact things too much

but the other point is that Faulkner hasn't really his lost way post WC; his bowling record post the 2015 WC is basically the same as pre the 2015 WC, and again I make the point that his role was as a bowling all-rounder. (in fact, if you remove the WC itself, his bowling record post WC is slightly better than his bowling record from his famed debut to just before the WC). It's just that his batting performances are nowhere near the same level, but I'd argue that his batting performances were completely unsustainable, he was up there with Klusener and Hussey as a number 7 and lower in OD cricket history, and clearly he wasn't that good of a batsman, so the fact he's returned to more normal levels doesn't really seem like a massive fall of grace, but of course it has turned out to be for him (the drunk driving probably didn't help either). the whole thing is a bit funny. he's performed basically the same in his primary role, but because he isn't performing at a historically ridiculous level with the bat he's out of the picture. like i said in a previous post, i would probably pick him at 7 before Stoinis in a scenario where a keeper is in the top 6 and he would be the 5th bowler, but it's clearly not a chance of happening
