Australian Domestic Season 2018/19

Yep I assumed it was a bit tongue in cheek. I like burns must but feel Warner has to play so it would mean Harris missing out, which would also seem pretty unfair. He made runs in most innings at a time when no one else really did. Didn't get to 3 figures but has just made 196 in the shield. Burns and Harris both better options than Bancroft imo

Yeah would agree with that, but can definitely see Bancroft being picked. Will be a very interesting team dynamic if al three of those blokes come back, particularly given the wither two have basically said it was Warner’s idea, and unless I’m mistaken he hasn’t responded publicly to that.

Would get a bit tense if he ran them both out

A question for those in the know as I don't really follow the fortunes of Australia's one-day side, but how much chance is there that Bancroft will be selected for the one-day team? I notice that he is uncapped internationally in that format, but has 41 List A caps for WA.

Highly unlikely any time soon.

Would prefer Bancroft over Warner tbh. Bancroft and Harris, Burns at 3. Ussie to have to earn his spot back. Top 6:

Little Langer
Sandpaperboi
Boo-urns
TPC
KPat
Head (because too hard to drop but would prefer others)

Am not sure of his list a but he did reasonably well in the bbl. Just got big runs in the shield both innings so form wise he's ok. When he was overseas in England did he play much one day stuff ?

Only chance would be as makeshift keeper/batsman. He's not a terrible keeper at all. It seems as though Handscomb is filling the makeshift keeper role atm though. If it can't be Wade then Handscomb or Bancroft would be next best tbh

I utterly loathe the idea of either Handscomb or Bancroft going in as our primary gloveman, part time keepers are never the way forward, especially for something as important as the World Cup. I'm no Wade bandwagoner but I still believe he is absolutely a great option for white ball cricket

I tend to agree but if the alternative is Carey then I'd much prefer Handscomb or Bancroft. Carey has been arse this year and his keeping hasn't even been that good either. Wade kept better than him during the Big Bash.

Can't agree at all regarding Carey's keeping, his form with the willow has certainly been mediocre but I would still have far more faith in his glovework than I ever would have in a non specialist.

I’m not a fan of recalling Bancroft anytime soon as his explanation of the sandpaper incident was complete bollocks

Would have more sympathy for him if he manned up but he went with “he made me do it”

I think it's dragged on way too long, I'd rather just forget about it and move on. If he's the best available batsman for a spot (which is of course very debatable), he should be selected.

In saying that I'm still steadfast in my opinion that Smith should never be captain again (which is what I thought should have been the only actual punishment from CA at the time), so I'm not exactly consistent here.

Ehh, I'm pretty much the same. It showed a significant failure of leadership but once their bans are over they should be back in the team so as long as they're good enough.

I'm not saying that I don't think Carey's a better keeper than the part-timers (though I don't think he difference is as much as many seem to), I just think they're better for the team in ODIs.

For Test cricket absolutely get a specialist gloveman, but Carey's batting has been such a liability this season in limited-overs.

Wade not playing really is ridiculous though

The omission of Wade from any LO side is now approaching farcical proportions tbh, and I despise the ****.

Renshaw's in almost a deep a hole as Hilton Cartwright. Would need to go full Bradman in the remaining three Shield games to even come into contention. The 47 might be a glimpse of some form found, but could just as easily be a false dawn. Should seriously be behind Hughes in the pecking order.

The opener's ranking should be Warner, Burns, Harris, Bancroft. But there's really SFA between the contenders to partner Warner. Bancroft was super impressive and almost single handedly saved a side that without him would have been rolled before lunch on day 3. His ability to bat long could easily see him jump to the top of the queue if he can put in some more performances before the end of the summer and/or with Durham.

Makes a real nice change to be talking about having to choose between some batsmen that are actually performing in the Shield.

wade could make 3 double centuries in the next 3 games and the selectors still would find a reason not to pick him.

his card is marked unfortunately.
