Dhoni is at least proven. I think Dhoni 4 then Jadhav, Pant, Pandya is the way to go.

48 in 33 for Dhoni. That's decent. Jadhav did well too. Only Rayudu holding us back now? Replace him with Karthik and we have our first XI sorted.

324 not disastrous for NZ considering where India were at one stage, and honestly it's the sort of chase they can expect in the World Cup. But man the fielding standards have slipped. Would still like Santner in the starting XI for the entirety of this series given he's 1 game into his comeback, but I guess NZ are wary of playing 2 spinners vs India.

how hamish bennett, adam milne (injury), blair tickner and (ewww) kugglejuggle don't get a look in for this squad i don't know. boult and ferguson aside it looked very very easy for india today.

Yeah. Just play Dhoni at 4 so that most of late overs are dealt by Karthik, Jadhav and Pandya. As I said before Rayudu and Dhoni shouldn't both play in middle over.

Classic post 2015 Dhoni, really. Often his innings look good on the scorecard and his own personal statistics but the extent to which his innings has actually helped the team is very dubious.

Below par maybe but would back India's bowlers to defend it. Good assessment up ahead for NZ nevertheless, Taylor's 181 last year aside they haven't been faced with a good 300+ chase in recent times.
