first ODI I've been to in a good couple of years. Was pretty disappointed at Ferguson being randomly left out - one of my favourite players to watch at the moment and really wanted to catch him live. Big plusses were Munro and Henry - both look like they have a clearer plan about what they're doing now. Nice to see Jimmy's performance wasn't a flash in the pan. Southee though - this guy is leading the T20 side. Absolutely bonkers. Pace is dropping steadily and he can't even hit his ****ing yorkers anymore. Give Henry the new pill and bring someone new in as backup.

wow. started playing board games at 125/7 and came back to this. would be happy for southee to be a test specialist from now on.

we aren't winning the world cup. btw the meteor was pretty cool.

Congrats to the black caps on an expected series win and whilst I am not celebrating as we lost, there are a lot of positives from a SL perspective..what an innings from Thisara..simply brilliant..don't forget, a year ago,we were getting bowled out for scores around a hundred, so to have two players score tons so far has been good. We haven't got the right combinations yet but are heading the right way. In both games we have shown backbone and that's all I expect from my team. Anyone who has played the game knows sometimes your opposition is simply better and there is nothing you can do but give your all..
Again well done to the Kiwis..

It's become a bit of a recurring theme really, happened twice in the Australia series when Stoinis hit that century, against South Africa and last year against Pakistan when Shadab Khan and the lower order almost got them home once. Ferguson definitely NZ's best bet for dealing with such situations.

Thisara the batsmen has never been a joke cricketer tbf, not the first crazy backs to the wall innings he's played, shame he couldn't pull off a miracle. Also a shame that the batting couldn't back up the decent work they did in the last game - wonder what options we have to turn to in terms of bowling though - spinners seem to be the only bowlers capable of keeping a lid on things

What changes should we make for the dead rubber? I'd like to see Doug Bracewell and Ferguson get more game time. Southee and Boult to be dropped/rested for me, we know Boult will be in the top squad and looks a little tired, give him a good break IMO. Southee got the pound big time, would prefer to see how Dougy gets on.

That was atrocious by NZ in the field.
The worst atching I've ever seen in 30 odd years of watching .

11 de Groens.

Did Doull mention during the commentary he’d been doing some fielding coaching with the side, or did I just imagine that?!

By the time SL lost 7 wickets uttered few expletives and headed to gym. Didn't want a dud game, need some competition really. By the time finished the gym and casually turned on radio sport in the car it was carnage. Rushed home to see the last few overs, that was some serious hitting. Interesting stance too from T Perara, front foot plonked down and hit through the line. Awesome awesome hitting. Did help our folks kept dropping catches but nothing to take away from the knock. SL could be the dark horse for the WC. They seem to bat deep, they just need to fix the bowling though. Woefully out of plans with the ball.

now do people believe me the bowling attack is seriously down from 2015? boult's off form atm, henry has faded after 2 months of nothing and without santner there to rescue it we've got nothing at the death, and sometimes up top as well which is where we've always been devastating.

is bennett fit? he's both the form one day bowler and has a very good record, plus he's always been good in odis. kinda surprised we're completely uninterested in him tbh.

bracewell and ferguson in for southee and boult next game imo. lets see what they can do.

I'm utterly flummoxed why Hamish Bennett doesn't even get a mention. He's been awesome now over 2-3 seasons and in particular the white ball. I was very surprised to not see him named in the t20s. He's been outstanding in T20. He's not all that old I reckon, about 31. That's not a retirement age these days and he's at the peak of his fitness and form.

I wish they'd given Bracewell a run yesterday. Time for Boult and Southee to take a break.
