Akila Dananjaya reported for suspect bowling action

There have been instances lately where dodgy looking bowlers (T Kaushal comes to mind) whose stock delivery looked pretty sus but it got through the testing, however the doosra/other variation was consistently above the flex limit. Hard to imagine a clean looking action would breach 15 degrees, and from my reading of this subject a few years ago and as others have pointed out the 15 degree limit was specifically set to encompass anyone with a clean looking action
Kaushal's doosra's were 50:50. It cleared a misconception that "a doosra cannot be bowled legally". Here he was doin it 50% of the times in extreme of his deliveries.

The problem here is the subjective selection happens just looking at the name of the bowler and going through footage to select deliveries to reproduce. To minimize the bias, every ball of every bowler has to be examined and suspect looking ones has to be tested. Still this has bias. While keepin the current system of testing reported ones, random testing of non reported ones should be performed as a quality assurance of the test.

However I find many don't want this. The reasons are unclear for a move that has a sound scientific basis.

Rules of diagnosing diabetes included tasting pee, but we don't do it amy more to diagnose it. Face it, things do change, so do rules.
Eh poor analogy. The rules for chucking evolved the way they did because chucking was first defined by how it looks to the naked eye. The rules for diagnosing diabetes did not evolve the way they did because having diabetes was first diagnosed by having sweet tasting pee.

I agree but I'd actually love to see them tested anyway to end the debate. If they random tested a bunch of bowlers that looked fine and they all came back <10 they could stop doing it, but I actually agree with Migara that we kind of need to see those results before deciding not to bother.

Oh non, it is. The first reference to diabetes is in "Suhrutha Sanhitha" written in 1500 B.C. referred to as "Madhu meha". "Madhu" in Sanskrit means sweet, and "meha" means pee. So diabetes was defined by having sweet pee.

I don't think anyone disagrees, or thinks that testing methods are fine the way they are. The reason there's back and forth in this discussion is the implication from Migara that we shouldn't be reporting or banning chuckers at all, or that anyone reported is being unfairly treated, because the testing mechanism isn't perfect. Which is pretty absurd IMO.

I'm more embarrassed for all the Aussies who are adamant their 'country' was once a colony.

I wonder if the inmates at Alcatraz think they're living in a American colony as well.
