ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers 2018 - Malaysia

Chubb

International Regular
If we win I will go back to Melacca and try and revise my opinion that Chicken Rice Balls are crap.
Ipoh has the best food in Malaysia. That’s saying a lot but many Malaysians would agree. I’m an evangelist for the place, it’s awesome and hardly any tourists go there.

Singapore 36/4. Life's good

Rooting for Nepal to topple UAE too. Make the competition wide open, gives HK a shot at qualifying for the Asia Cup again. But UAE are dominating right not - 67/0 after 11. Ashfaq Ahmed scored a quick 60 odd against Singapore, and he's 44* off 37 right now. And Chirag Suri tonned up last game and is quietly chugging alone now. Worrying signs for Nepal (and HK)

Really needed Anish and Arjun to contribute. Can't constantly rely on Chetan to score all the runs.

Tournaments like this really suck because I don't actually want to see any of these nations lose. We're all cash-strapped Associates struggling for resources, attention and support. All the people working in cricket in these nations put so much of their time and energy into chasing dead ends and trying to revive lost causes all out of passion for the game, driven by the bleak hope that there might be light at the end of this tunnel, that one day the sport will exist as a self sustaining entity enjoyed by a passionate local fanbase, instead of being propped up by generous expats, hard working volunteers, and occasional ICC handouts. Tournaments like these represent so much to these nations, and yet only one team gets to win and progress while 5 others need to go back home licking their wounds and wondering if they'll be able to fund another season without any drastic cuts.

Having said all that, **** Singapore. 67/5. Annoying partnership broken. Rip them to shreds boys.

Where's Irfan Ahmed btw? Him and Nadeem are a bit like discount Pandya brothers.

Nepal have nabbed another wicket and the spinners are slowing things down. Chirag Suri is still out there, 2 runs away from fifty. He's having a good tournament.

He was suspended for being approached by a bookie and not reporting it. That 1 year should almost be up. I think he mentioned something on social media about a return to playing cricket this season, but I haven't seen his name pop up on any squad lists nor have heard any murmurs about it yet. We shall see. I think if he does return he will have to find a club willing to punt on him first - apparently he has a bit of a discipline issue - and then it's up to the coaches and selectors if they want him back around the team.

Nadeem himself has quit being a full-time cricketer and is running a business now - he just plays and makes himself available around his schedule.

Both very talented players, it's a shame we can't have them turn out of HK more frequently.

Handy partnership this.

Interesting fact about Abhiraj - Dude was 14 or 15 playing in a T20 in Singapore. He spilled a catch and Jayasuriya said **** you to him.

Anshy with the runout when we needed it

Sandeep Lamichhane turning it a quality spell against UAE right now - 2/18 in 7. Chirag Suri has his 50 but has slowed down quite a bit. Can Nepal hold UAE to something chaseable?

150 a/o, 151 for HK to win. Fair effort by Singapore, this is still defendable given HK's recent batting form.

Nepal have pulled it back against UAE. 190/6 after 40 overs with Chirag Suri dismissed. Great recovery from 100/2 in 20.
