Mark Nicholas selecting the following side for the 4th test... The case for Vince - ESPNcricinfo

I like this side a lot. I had the same one with 5,6 and 7 in a different order, to be honest they are interchangeable. I especially like the idea of Stokes at 4.
Exposing Vince to the brand new ball is a bit of a gamble. I'm not sure if he has ever opened before? Hampshire open with Weatherley and Adams, although they've had experiments with Rossouw and Amla up there also.

FWIW, thought that was almost permaban worthy

Anyhow, on a vague attempt to get somewhat back on topic, wonder what Sam Curran's chances of playing in the next test are?

What's the status on Barstow's finger? Fit to bat?

I thought it would be Bairstow, Rashid and Jennings out (or Cook out if he can't play and Jennings retained), and Modern Curran and Vince in.

Jennings, Stoneman, Vince, Malan, Westley (remember him?) and too many more rejected Cook partners to remember. Chuck them in the 100 and see what they can do against 10 ball overs. Last one to chuck his wicket away at 29 gets another shot for England.

Be careful, they might take you up seriously.

Definitely the better choice. The old-fashioned Curran would be a step backwards.

Six bowlers is overkill, no? If you're not sold on Stokes the bowler, then are you confident enough to play him as a batsman solely? At no.4 at that? Untested waters for him so high up.

EDIT: Sorry, that was directed at Gremlin and Nicholas' team.

I'd almost say that Stokes' bowling is more useful than his batting in Tests these days, especially in England
