Karuna's got a 150 and a 50 in a match where the next best score so far is 49. Candidate for best batting performance in 2018.

Right, 352 runs. This is going to be a stiff, but still not impossible chase.

As an aside, Philander has bowled all of eleven overs in the two innings combined.

Probably played a better innings than de Bruyn would have in the circumstances though. In the side as a batsman, obvs.

Rabada has kept South Africa in this test match. Gulf in class between the spin attacks is glaring, Shamsi doesn’t appear fit enough, and even if I was batting instead of Karunaratne, South Africa still wouldn’t chase 150 4th innings.

Amla will have to do something extra ordinary if South Africa are to win this game. Something he hasn't done for quite some time.

There's always the chance of rain, rain and more rain though; so South Africa shouldn't assume that some good old fashioned buckling down is irrelevant.

Some fight from SA would be good to see.... I would particularly like to see good innings from Markram and Bavuma.

Sigh... and another Sigh...

In other news, both Steyn and TPC now have the same number of wickets chalked up against their names.

To be fair, these blokes haven't looked terribly consistent at home in the last two series either. Beat Aus and India cos of a few good individual batting displays and our fast bowlers.

To think that Herath had to wait for Murali to retire before he was given a proper run in the team. What a player.

Like always our bowling is fine... even some half decent spinners. Markram is a find, but still young but loss of all those quality batsmen the last 5 years is being felt. We gonna have batting issues for the next 2-3 years at least, even if youngsters come through still have to settle into the international scene.

South Africa’s lowest total since readmmission is 79. Be some effort to get that much from here.
