I suspect the fact taht it was one of those typical Arsenal/Rosicky/Shane Bond type injures where the official prognosis was "hmmm, dunno, he'll probably only be out for a little bit longer. Not this week, maybe the next one". By the time everyone reailsed how serious the situation was his contract was winding down.Arsenal's decline over the last couple of seasons has properly coincided with Cazorla's injury. Baffling that Wenger hasn't replaced him properly.
Rosicky did have that period where he was basically "the man" as well tbf, but it was much more short lived. Couple of months in the 2011-2012 season where he really pulled the team out of the mire on several occasions. I think people would remember his performances from around then a lot more favourably if he wasn' overshadowed by RVP being a colossus over the same period.Yeah, Cazorla is nothing like the Diaby or Rosicky level. He wasn’t just a nice bonus if he was fit; he was the absolute heartbeat of the side for a good period of time.
So so underwhelmed by Emery.
God no, like last years Check-a-trade when we had about 45k go.Not boycotting then?
They may do, looks like the game will struggle to get over 40000.
It's a total fudge.I don’t really see the point of Emery. He’s not obviously good at any aspect of management and his teams mostly perform roughly to their level.
I’m hearing that the deal breaker was Arteta wanting a say in transfers. Sensible of them to say no, although the early signs for their current recruitment regime aren’t great either.
He would have made sense any time in the last ten or so years, when Wenger kept building title-capable squads then mismanaging them to 3rd and 4th placed finishes. At this point they're about as bad as they could be given their finances, so they might as well go for a manager with as high a ceiling as possible. Arteta would've been a pretty decent shout if the likes of Nagelsmann weren't interested. From what I understand Emery is quite pragmatic. But he's not even in the top tier of those type of coaches (Simeone, Allegri, Conte, Mourinho at his peak, etc). Really quite disappointed.
This is what happens when you spend the majority of your money on forwards and neglect one of the most important positions in any side. If you try to do things on the cheap you get what you deserve.Karius will never live this down, feel sorry for the fella, but he was never good enough. Klopp has got a lot right transfer wise, but not whatsoever regarding the keepers.
