Rubbish. You seem to be weak at maths. Causality does not imply correlation. These guys had good records and by the law of averages would have smashed SA at the Wanderers.
Right like they did in the other 3 tests. Fact of the matter is with Smith/Warner Oz lost 2-1. Pure speculation what difference their presence would've made in the 4th test (their own fault). In all likelihood, RSA still would've won. Well done RSA you beat Oz fair and square home and away!!!

This debate continues to plumb new depths.

Projecting much? Last I checked it was SA who was thrashed by a mediocre england side (who had just lost 0-4 to India) and had their batsmen nicking off to county trundler Toby Roland Jones.

And only reason SA won 3-1 is cause Smith/Warner got banned due to clever cameramen. If we had Smith banned post brainfade in Bangalore we would have won the 3rd test too as Smith would'nt have hit his unbeaten century there. So I will concede that SA have better cameramen than India and that is the only thing they are better at, cricket no chance.
Do you think its possible to organize more series vs sri lanka and bangladesh on the sub continent?

I think it's fair to say that coming into this series, it was advertised as RSA pace vs Oz pace. Needless to say RSA > Oz.
While true.... it also came down to the batsmen, For all Amla's faults he stood up and help blunt the new ball when needed. ABdV is still an ultimate force to be reckoned with. SA still have an ugly brick wall opening, and we have shown a serious new talent in Markram. Aus batting line-up did not impress. Smith is the only real quality, and while Warner does scare me, against a quality attack he tends to get out more often than not. Rest of the Aus batting line up pretty much performed to their overall adequate/poor reputations. Without Paine, chipping in with unexpected good innings this could have actually been a lot worse for Aus.

SA's lower order was also very good supporting a batsman in almost every game... Philander, Maharaj and Rabada is a pretty good lower order. If De Kock is in good form, they'll frustrate a lot of teams with that lineup.

There was a stat on best avgs among bowlers to reach 200 scalps, and Shaun Pollock was at no. 1. Always good to remember just what a monster he was before he lost some zip.

As i mentioned before, the situation with Australia team reminds me a little of the Pakistan team just before the Asif and co issues ... Good bowling attack, but their batsmen didnt back them up. Granted bowlers win you test matches, but there still comes a time when your batsmen need to step up.

Well done to SA ever since the 2ND test ,they have outplayed the Aussie's In every department.SA have now whipped Australia 3 times in row away and now finally at home. The only thing remaining for the SA test side to do is to win a series against pak in the UAE. SA have nothing to prove in India because despite that 3-0 loss in 2015 SA have done better in India than India has done in SA. Eng have beaten SA in 2015 and 2017 but SA has the best record against England in England in this era when they whipped England twice in row on tour in 2008 and 2012. In 2014 SA blocked out rangana herath and co. for 2 days on a pitch that turned square to earn a series win in Sri Lanka. In the last decade of tests SA have only lost 5 series of Test cricket. The stats will show that SA have been the best this decade. Presently India are ranked no.1and are truly the best. but SA are hunting that spot like a pack of hungry wolves and if they play at full potential, they will surely take the no.1 come the end of 2018. India on the other have plenty to prove after losing to SA but do have a great team to win in Eng and Aus and will be ultimately measured on those tours.

Particularly away from home. Durban showed that our attack doesn't need huge scores to bowl at to win games (and win them convincingly), but 450 runs in a Test match across two innings is not defendable by basically anyone.

Tbh, the Australian bowling was largely disappointing apart from Cummins pretty much all series. Hazelwood and Lyon in particular were toothless.

Tbh I was talking strictly about the bowling attacks. Fact of the matter is though, without their best batsman and bowler RSA whipped Oz away . And at home still without their best bowler, RSA outperformed Oz.

I would have preferred a full Aus team but I guess you can only play what's put in front of you. Man was this a sweet victory. Every since I've been a cricket fan we have been whipped by Aus at home,so this is a welcome change.

For Aus, Cummins is an absolute beast. Please manage him properly so we can see him play more Tests. Paine will do perfectly fine as Wicket keeper/captain imo. The batting line up sans Smith and Warner is going to be a big problem. But then again they won't come up against an unrelenting attack like this very often so with their bowlers I feel like they will be okay. More is needed from Haze and Lyon.
