Looks like he's gonna go the way of Mennie doesn't it?
Sadly yes. He wasn't picked at the best time unfortunately. Look at his year. Plays 2 one day matches in October for South Australia and then 4 Shield games up until early December. Sits out all of the Big Bash playing just the 1 warm up one dayer where he bowls 8 wicketless overs going for a run a ball. He then plays a Shield match in February where he ends up with match figures of 0/135 from 42 overs. He then waits a further 1 1/2 months before playing again which is the current Test match where of course there was a lot of controversy in the build up.

You can kind of understand why he isn't at his absolute best.

Makes more sense why they picked Mennie when they did now. Sayers is simply too slow for test cricket, just like Copeland was.

Although with Hazlewood in the worst form of his life our high quality attack looks quite weak now sans-Starc.

I'm still confused why Tremain didn't make it over to SA. All we get out of Sayers debuting is a meme ruined.

Has Hazelwood been in bad form or has he just been ineffective? Nobody has moved the new ball much, and he's mostly been accurate.

Maharaj should get himself a nice bag in the 4th innings if he bowls well.

I'm with you, I don't think he has bowled too badly or done much wrong. I also think he has bowled quite few threatening spells.

Sometimes you up against good batsmen in the battle and maybe you could have had more luck.

So dull. This last session was what non test fans are complaining about tests for. Even the stuff that should have been exciting like the movement Hazelwood and Lyon were getting was dull, because a wicket or three doesn't matter.

I'd like to see Maharaj as the next bat in if it were not for the fact that we can't afford an injury to him

Some of it might be explained by tiredness as he is definitely down on pace when compared to the Ashes where he was frequently above 145

Having said that, I think that he's a tad overrated by some and pretty telling that Cummins is a better bowler in all conditions in spite of having played less fc matches than Josh has tests

Good bowler but not the reincarnation of McGrath

Hazelwood picking up pace has been to his detriment

Probably the victim of the Australian obsession with express bowling (that has pervaded selectors' thinking in the last 10 years) and the illogical desire to recreate 80's Windies speed quartets.
