International Debutant
Actually kind of feel for the guy... He is completely humiliated.
A humbled Darren Lehmann has bluntly admitted his "headbutt the line" philosophy for Australia will no longer be tolerated by the game at large, and pointed to the example of New Zealand's cultural regeneration as the way forward for his team. In response to the question of whether he was the right man to mentor the team, he replied: "I need to change."
I mean what an absolutely ****ing two faced ****...."I'm not going to resign as was said. We need to change how we play and within the boundaries we play. Obviously previously we've butted heads on the line but that's not the way to go about us playing cricket moving forward," Lehmann said in Johannesburg. "The thing for me would be if we take a leaf out of someone like say New Zealand's book the way they play and respect the opposition.
"We do respect the opposition but we push the boundaries on the ground. So we've got to make sure we're respecting the game, it's traditions, and understanding [how] the game holds itself around the world. I acknowledge James' comments into the review of the culture of the team and the way we play our cricket and we are all open and ready to assist in this process. The team has been received quite negatively in recent times and there is a need for us to change some of the philosophies about the way we play.
Remember his suspension ends just in time for the World Cup and the ashes. And I’m sure the Aussie media loves a redemption story as much as their counterparts anywhere else...Every one is saying Steven Smith will be back but who knows. He might announce his retirement and never play again. This would have taken a lot out of him, the embarassment of it all.
In a battle of sponsors vs broadcasters I would be leaning towards the latter.Hey if you presided over the Weetbix company, would you want to be endorsed by someone guilty of cheating lest they were seen to have served an appropriate punishment? More than the public, it's the sponsors who call the shots in this time of image branding.
This is the worst aspect of it - he'll take out the unfairness of this on England, and probably beat Bradman's 1930 recordRemember his suspension ends just in time for the World Cup and the ashes. And I’m sure the Aussie media loves a redemption story as much as their counterparts anywhere else...

Sad video. Especially aggravating because Smith looks like all the fiasco is really hurting him inside. Hard not to feel for Smith the man if not the cricketer.Actually kind of feel for the guy... He is completely humiliated.
Right, especially as he famously has nets at his home and a wife who’s willing to load a bowling machine, and can now spend a year preparing for the seriesThis is the worst aspect of it - he'll take out the unfairness of this on England, and probably beat Bradman's 1930 record
Isn’t warnie a special case down under though? With an extra thick Magic layer of bogan Teflon all over him.In a battle of sponsors vs broadcasters I would be leaning towards the latter.
Public memories are short. Otherwise a certain Shane Warne would have permanently taken up poker in the US in 2003. Yet it didn't happen and he returned as a true Aussie hero two years later and retired another two years with his legacy amplified.
Looks more like a man who lost a million dollars. The bottom line was he even lied about how he cheated. Yellow tape with dirt was conceivably premeditated stupidity sandpaper is just premeditated. Before I thought it could have been a one off I strongly suspect now that the rumours of past misdameanours are true.Sad video. This, was a little jarring to see him getting pushed around like thatThey are really manhandling him out of that airport.
