***Official*** Australia in South Africa 2018

I really loathe the gem of finding other issues to talk about instead of cricket between matches. Why can't they just write about what they used to write about between games....cricket?

Unfortunately I wasn't around to live it, but the <50s generation had a real class about it. Knowing when to keep things to yourselves, when not to air publicly things that should be hushed up, etc. Life is too sensational for me now. I'm off to recover and look at the wall.

It's all dire and pointless but if it fires up the players and results in some exciting cricket (like India-Australia last year), it's tolerable. TBF, these two teams have always had trouble with sledging and bad behaviour/bullying etc. when they've faced each other. Not a lot of love lost. I can't remember one Aus-SA series where there wasn't some off-field drama, trash talking etc (Faf ball tampering incident, Clarke-Steyn standoff, Warner accusing SA of ball-tampering after the 2nd Test in 2014 etc.).
I`m trying to remember an Aus series without controversy against any team?

**** Durban.

2 losses in 16 tests.

Now 6 losses in 8.

I see groundsman and staff were moaning about lack of financial assistance ! Please ! Always excuses.

I don't think they could get Durban back to what it used to be. Pity really.

Having this type of wicket is enough for 1 of our 5 main test grounds at PE.

Well done to Australia. Knocked us down early. Their seam attack is relentless.

Saffers tried to fight but got going too late. Senior batsman need to step up.

Problem is it takes 1 bowler like Morkel to be off it and Vern to not be as much of a threat as he can be on a wicket like this to put us down to 2 bowlers with BIG threat and that pushed Australia to a very good 1st innings score of 350 on that wicket setting the game up well for them.
At least we tend to still win at PE...

Well done to Aus good win for them. Nice to see Markram have such a great innings, QDK getting some form is nice, Maharaj showing that he is a real quality bowler.... and at least SA put up some fight.

Never said that.... but it is pretty amazing how controversy follows Aus around. Don't worry it is probably the RoW fault.
What about controversies in series not involving Australia? Pretty hard to blame us then but I'm sure you'll find a way.

The 2017 BD v Aus series seemed to be good.

We did lose 3 in a row there not so long ago :D But defo got our act together recently.

Durbs still producing players in Amla, Maharaj, Ngidi, Dupavillon for tests and qyuite a few in ODI side like Miller, Zondo, Lucky but where is the passion and support there anymore ?

Remember the famous partnership between Barry Richards and Graeme Pollock there and the locals came out to support one of their favourite sons. It was jam packed on the footage.

Think thats what PE has over them right now hence getting some of the boxing day games recently.

Durban has been poor, plus they also have a mini situation like those rugby "supporters" from Cape Town who lets just say - have issues in geography...

Ah yes, I know what you mean.

Still would like to think there are some patriotic cricket lovers out there. Guess its so easy to watch on TV these days. Used to go to Newlands regularly but have't been the last couple of summers for domestic or international myself.

Apparently Lyon was actually charged and accepted the fine over that run out incident with ABdV.... can't believe that was anything at all. Not ideal, but it not like he threw it at the man. Apparently they have made up after a late night chat!

At the end of the day, would you rather sit on some plastic chair in 30 degree heat with some ordinary expensive beer and from a dodgy angle where you can't even see the balll...or watch it on HD from home

That's exactly it.

The atmosphere is good to be a part of but weighing it up the way you put it wins for me now.

I know Australian TV used to restrict cricket viewing where the game was on ? Not sure if that happens anymore ?

Didnt they do it for a while in South Africa, around the Trevor Quirk, Martin Locke and gin glasses era
