Lovely to see the bowling averages for our pacers. Ishant proving why he's still a vital pacer for India. Can't wait for the England series, hopefully we drop Rohit from the squad.

Disappointed with the effort except for amla and elgar for SA in this game.

Middle order was abysmal.... ABdV was good in the series though. But Faf and QDK were terrible. Which is very strange considering not to long ago we could get just about nothing from our top 4 with Faf, QDK and Bavuma getting us out of messes. Even Philander at 8.

Team balance is not right at the moment; Unless QDK gets into some serious form for the Aus matches.

Thought all 4 specialist quicks did a good job at various times in this test. Bhuvi was good throughout , as was Ishant. Bumrah did way better than expected and Shami was typical Shami (ie) a salad of crap and brilliance. Rahane ,Pujara and Kohli innings were huge in the context too, as was Vijay's even though he only got 20 odd.

Can't help but feel this series was a huge missed opportunity though. With some sensible selections and better batting in the first two tests ,especially the second,which was about as friendly a pitch you can hope to get, we could've got a great series result. Frustrating but SA won the big moments. Love that the hype behind the pace attack was proven to be justified . If the batsmen pick up their game a tad, could have a huge chance in England.

Excellent series... deserved more Tests. I'm not even particularly looking forward to the LO stuff because it is going to drag on forever.

Faf played two very good knocks in the first two tests imo. QdK was horrible though. Needs to get his confidence back, don't know what's happened.

How was Faf terrible and ab good? Faf made vital contributions in both games we won. Can't give ab a pass and slate faf. Especially when one expects more from your teams star player.

And just as an additional comment... most of the SA supporters on CW have been saying don't produce green tops (or extreme wickets) because the game turns into a crapshoot, as can be seen here. Which is not sensible.

This does not to take away from Indian bowlers who bowled brilliantly.

Its a shame this series had only three test. It truly deserved five matches than boring one sided Ashes.

Jinx's innings was incredibly vital. First game back after being dropped , in sych terrible form that the captain said "no one wanted him in the team " and he plays the most fluent knock of the test by miles. Wafg.

No complaints about this scoreline. Probably the best possible reflection of the two teams. I hope Kohli learnt a few things to be honest. Can't ever drop Bhuvi and Rahane.

So guys who's MOTS? Kohli a decent shout considering he was the best bat among both teams throughout the series. The bowlers all have roughly similar contributions.

Sorry you are right been a bit harsh on Faf.... I did forget he got runs in the 2nd inn of the first test. Can't even be to harsh on Markram, he scored big in the 2nd match.

I think QDK poor form and lacking an extra batsmen gave me a false sense of the middle order performance, because we always seemed to end short of what we should have got.

Yup. Kohli motm and mots for me. Most runs by a distance in a bowlers series and faced the more difficult attack.

Good win. Big improvement over last visit but make no mistake, this was a dead rubber. India should feel optimistic for England but I still give them zero chances there. This series was their best chance but RSA won critical moments. Btw how many tests is India playing in England and Australia??

Don't quite know what to make of Pandya now. Was incredible in the first Test but stunk it up with the bat after that. He didn't bowl badly,just wasn't used enough. He's a little less bits and pieces than I expected but still needs a lot of work.

Tough on Kohli not getting man of series, but Philander not undeserving put continuous good performances throughout the series in.

..... Maybe Kohli's poor selection choose hurt him!
