Not only that, but just because a selection works doesn't mean the reasoning behind it is any good.

If veganbob really thinks Bumrah was the correct selection over Bhuvi I'd love to hear some reasoning that isn't 'look he took 2 wickets with shooters in the second innings!'

Assume he will want to play Australia as that is a prestigious series for them. He might jack it in afterwards assuming the test series afterwards are lacking the same glamour. He can focus on limited overs then.

After the Aus series SA have SL in Aug, away, and then Pak in the summer, december at home, then SL early 2019 at home. So not much for SA after Aus this year. Then its the WC basically.... and who knows after that?

Can't see him been that interested in those series and to be honest they don't need him for either series. I could understand if he wants to focus on limited overs cricket for what is left in his career.
