Your countries best XI - minus Test, ODI and T20 players.

Challis

U19 12th Man
Asif Ahmed
Soumya Sarkar
Anamul Haque
Mominul Haque
Farhad Hossain
Sabbir Rahman
Nurul Hasan (WK)
Alauddin Babu
Saqlain Sajib
Taskin Ahmed
Abu Haider

That was pretty tough, I kind of cheated and chose a few players on their potential rather than how good they are at the moment, hence the fact I've chosen a 16 year old and a 17 year old as my opening bowlers

I am confident the top four batsmen will go on to represent Bangladesh sometime in the future.
Farhad Hossain I don't think ever will, but he is one of the best performers in the domestic scene.
Sabbir Rahman has the potential to be a star in T20s and maybe ODIs, but he has been disappointing in the last year and a half.
Nurul Hasan will be a better wicket-keeper than Mushfiqur and has the potential to be as good with the bat. He should be the future wicket-keeper in the National team (Litton Das is the only other young WK that could compete with him).
Alauddin Babu has the potential to be a quality pace bowling all-rounder. I think he will definitely represent Bangladesh. He is a better prospect with the bat than Abul Hasan, his bowling isn't as quick but he has more control.
Saqlain Sajib is one of the best spinners in the country but has Shakib, Sunny, Razzak, Enamul Haque, and Gazi ahead of him.
Abu Haider and Taskin Ahmed are the aforementioned 16 and 17 year olds. Haider is a left-armer and Taskin a tall pacey bowler. Given Bangladesh's history of lacking quality pacers, these two could potentially be the best ever produced by Bangladesh.

In the end I had to reluctantly leave out potential future national cricketers such as; Tasamul Haque, Noor Hossain, Al Amin Hossain, Abu Jayed, Litton Das.

Spot on. Anamul and Mominul are already in the squad for W.I. ODIs, eager to see how they perform. The thing about Soumya is that he gets a lot of starts and then throws it away, his style kind of reminds early Tamim; hope he quickly learns to convert those starts. I am pretty interested to know more in depth about Nurul Islam Sohan, heard Richard McInnes rates him very highly. And Taskin wag, hope he won't disappoint us.

I thought Farhad Hossain had already played ODIs. Was he in the squad at one point without playing or something?

Think he was in squad for one ODI series or Test, not too sure though but certainly remember him fielding in one game or I might be confusing him with someone else

I don't think he's made the final squad, he's been in the preliminary squads, and played for the A team, Academy, and BCB IX against touring sides

Yeah he's definitely been around the setup a few times but I thought I actually remembered watching him in a game, and those of things aren't televised. Certainly not in Sydney. :P

yeah, Mominul is likely to debut in this series, Anamul is probably touch and go as he failed in the practice match, he may get a chance if Jahurul/Naeem etc fail. Anamul is a better long version player so I'm not too bothered if he doesn't play in this series as long as he plays in the next Test Series. Soumya I think will need a couple more years till he's ready as you say he gets starts bit doesn't go on to make big scores, he can bowl at medium pace too which could be very useful. I've been impressed with Sohan (I think his official name is Nurul Hasan) in this seasons NCL, he's averaging 45 coming in at 7, and he's scored well in games which had a sporting wicket where some of his team mates barely made double figures:-

Dhaka Division v Rajshahi Division at Dhaka, Oct 20-22, 2012 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
Dhaka Division v Dhaka Metropolis at Dhaka, Nov 2-5, 2012 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

you might be thinking of Faisal Hossain (aka Decans/Dickens), he sticks out as he often wears those brightly coloured sunglasses whilst fielding. As you probably know there are quite a few Hossains, Hasans etc from Bangladesh

OK this was bugging me, so I did some research and it has to be in the BPL playing for Barisal Burners, if not then you were imagining it, and I suggest you need to get out more :)

Was thinking about this the other day with talk of which Lions batsman was going to be called up for the NZ tour.

For England you'd have to think it'd be something like:

Gubbins
Browne
Livingstone
Lawrence
Clarke
Stevens
Foakes
Barker
Archer/Curran
Leach
Porter

Alex Davies, Sam Northeast, James Hildreth are some other names for the batting maybe. With the bowling it's basically an army of inexperienced but potentially good quicks - Tongue, Mahmood, Garton, Helm, Stone

Geez this isn't easy for Australia. Nearly every player who has shown even a glimmer of promise has played in one form or another.

State Vice-Captain
In the 2nd XI Prabath Jayasuriya is there twice,I'd have Manoj Sarathchandra who performed well this season as a keeper.

For England, based on current domestic cricket (this team will be an all format XI), I'd go for:

1. R Burns (Surrey)
2. M Richardson (Durham)
3. N Browne (Essex)
4. D Lawrence (Essex)
5. B Foakes wk (Surrey)
6. Bell-Drummond (Kent)
7. J Clark (Lancashire)
8. J Leach (Somerset)
9. J Porter (Essex)
10. B Coad (Yorkshire)
11. J Overton (Somerset)

Some players I could have picked but they aren't eligible (yet) to play for England.

I am getting in before T20I squads are announced.

1 D Hughes
2 J Weatherald
3 K Patterson
4 D Short
5 J Lehmann
6 J Wildermuth
7 S Whiteman
8 M Neser
9 M Swepson
10 C Sayers
11 M Kelly

Where are the right handed batsman? Marcus Harris could bat 3 and then Wildermuth and Neser could fight it out for the all rounder spot I guess too.

Zombie thread!

Difficult for South Africa if you exclude players like Ackermann and Pillans who have recused themselves from selection. You could go two ways - provincial regulars who are solid performers but not specially talented enough to get selected; or players who are still on the fringes, even of franchise selection, but have the potential to be far better than their franchise journeymen (Galiem, Verreyne, Bosch et. al.) ...,

For tests:
ERWEE
MOORE
SECOND
KLAASEN(K)
ZONDO
MUTHUSAMY
SAVAGE
VON BERG
SIBOTO
NORTJE
BUDAZA

For odis:
ERWEE
VAN DER DUSSEN
MOONSAMY
KLAASEN(K)
ZONDO
JONKER
FRYLINCK (EDIT: ineligible... Err, um. Seriously thin pickings after that... Savage? Galiem?)
LINDE
BIRCH
MAGALA
SIBOTO

(Difficulty is that a lot of second tier bowlers like Dala, Magala, Gqamane take wickets in limited overs, but are terrible at containing; far too many freebies...)

And yes I do think Birch and Siboto are the type of bowlers who would be pretty anaemic a level above where they are. Birch at least should be able to control run flow.

given nz throw one or two limited overs caps to players at random this will be tricky.

1. Greg Hay
2. Michael Guptill-Bunce
3. Robbie O'Donnell
4. Will Young (c)
5. Dane Cleaver
6. Josh Clarkson
7. Tim Seifert (wk)
8. Ajaz Patel
9. Jacob Duffy
10. Kyle Jamieson
11. Ed Nuttall

What a weird career Greg Hay has had. Average over 40, can bat anywhere, no glaring weaknesses and passed over his whole career for the likes of Marshall, Nicol, Redmond and Flynn.

Not a poor team given the rules.
